RECOMMENDED: Strange Love by Ann Aguirre is $2.99! Elyse loved this one and gave it an A:
Strange Love by Ann Aguirre is a shining example of just how good a romance novel can be, even if the hero has mandibles, and I recommend everyone go read it now.

The Bad Luck Bride by Janna MacGregor is 99c! Sarah had the author on as part of a previous live podcast taping at RT and I found it fascinating. Some readers expressed confusion in how the overall plot unfolded, but others really loved the heroine and her cursed luck.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia is $2.99! It’s part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals, so grab this one if you can. I thought we ran a review, but I’m probably conflating it with all the great comments we had about it on Slack. We also recommended it in our Horror Romance Rec League.

This has a tantalizing premise, a vicar who’s also a rake, but reading it was a dreary slog. The amount of plot in Wild Wild Rake almost reached 1990s crazysauce level, yet it wasn’t a compelling read. I found most of the characters in Wild Wild Rake confusing, or unlikable. The hero was both. At the beginning of the book, Devan is a dissolute gentleman who’s cultivated a reputation as a womanizer, and publicly loathes … Continue reading Wild, Wild Rake by Janna MacGregor →
I know last Hide Your Wallet we instituted some changes. Well now we have more, thanks to the comment left by Katie C. A lot of you expressed wanting to keep the wide breadth of new releases and Katie’s suggestion was pretty great. We’re still keeping our book maximums (five per person), but have added an extra HYW post per month, allowing another five books per person. The first HYW of the month will cover … Continue reading February’s New Releases, Part Two →
RECOMMENDED: Rogue Most Wanted by Janna MacGregor is $1.99! I believe the price will go up to $2.99 later in the week. Elyse gave this one a B+:

Foolish Bride by A.S. Fenichel is 99c at Amazon and Kobo! This is a second chance romance between two people who were supposed to get married. Some readers mentioned that the dialogue felt a bit too modern for a historical romance, but others really liked the heroine.

Right now my brain is very, very tired. My brain doesn’t want puzzles to solve; it wants a nap, a cat to cuddle, and possibly a glass of wine. Rogue Most Wanted worked really well for my brain-fatigue; it’s a fake-engagement romance that features the heroine being welcomed into a warm and loving family. The black moment and resolution were pretty predictable, but predictable worked for me perfectly in this moment. I already guessed what … Continue reading Rogue Most Wanted by Janna MacGregor →
The Bride Who Got Lucky by Janna MacGregor is $1.99! This is the second book in the Cavensham Heiresses historical romance series. Readers really enjoyed the chemistry and tension between the hero and heroine, but found there are a lot of subplots that made things feel disjointed at times. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
