Books on Sale: Nuts by Alice Clayton & More

RECOMMENDED: Nuts by Alice Clayton is $4.99! I know the sale price is a little higher than what we feature, but the book is sooooo worth it. I personally love Clayton’s writing and it’s a great blend of humor and romance. I love the heroine, though I’ll admit the circumstances that send her back to her hometown are a little silly. And the next book, Cream of the Crop, comes out next month and is amazingly hilarious.

HaBO: Medieval Heroine Brought Back to Life

This HaBO request is from Leslie, who wants to find a medieval historical romance: I’ve been looking for a book I read in the early to mid-1990s, sometime before 1994 or 1995. It was sort of a semi-mystical medieval, featuring Taliesin as a bit character. As I recall the plot, the heroine was the daughter of a Welsh or Cornish lord, and was married off to a Norman for…reasons. They got on all right and … Continue reading HaBO: Medieval Heroine Brought Back to Life

Carter Bravo’s Christmas Bride by Christine Rimmer

Carter Bravo’s Christmas Bride

I don’t read category romances these days, but they hold a special place in my heart. Back in the day, Mom and I would head out to Crown Books to stock up on the newest Loveswepts, Silhouettes, and Harlequins. She’d be curled up in the corner of the loveseat with coffee and a cigarette, and I’d be on the sofa with a Diet Pepsi, while Dad and the bros did their man things. This was … Continue reading Carter Bravo’s Christmas Bride by Christine Rimmer

All In by Simona Ahrnstedt

All In

I keep saying that I don’t like contemporaries, but that’s just patently not true.  Is it going to stop me from saying it? Probably not, but I need a hook to get me interested at all (unlike with historicals where all I need is a big dress on the cover and I’m in). The hook here is that the book takes place in Sweden, written by a Swedish author, and was released in Sweden in … Continue reading All In by Simona Ahrnstedt

Three Historical Romances & a Hot Contemporary!

Books on Sale: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley & More

RECOMMENDED: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley is $1.99! I loved this book and give it five stars on Goodreads. It’s easily one of my favorite historical romance and it recently showed up in the comments of our Rec League: Unassuming, Underestimated Heroes post. However, some readers didn’t feel any love necessarily between the hero and heroine. For those who have read this, what did you think?

The Strongest Steel by Scarlett Cole

The Strongest Steel

Trigger warning for domestic violence The Strongest Steel is a new adult novel about Harper Connelly, a domestic violence survivor with extensive scarring on her back from where her ex-boyfriend carved a phrase into it, and Trent Andrews, the tattoo artist whom she wants to tattoo over her scars. This novel hits several of the new adult tropes. Terrible trauma? Check. Green eyed heroine? (Green eyes are the violet eyes of the new century.) Check. … Continue reading The Strongest Steel by Scarlett Cole

It’s a Monday and sometimes, Mondays call for Cover Snark! Amanda: But why is there a box? Did someone really give this dude (with no neck I might add) a baby in a box?
