This is an older Kearsley title, originally published in 1995, I believe, and features the hallmarks of her novels: parallel storylines in the present and past, a mystery, and some romance. This book has a 3.7 star average on GR, and while some readers adored it, others felt the mix of history and contemporary plot was out of balance.
Truth or Beard by Penny Reid is $2.99 at Amazon! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. I know Reid is an auto-buy author for many of you and this one has an enemies to lovers feel to it, judging by the description. Readers say it has Reid’s trademark humor and quirkiness, but warn there’s a scene where the hero is with another woman. I know that’s an off button for some.
Rogue Desire is available to preorder for 99c! This is an anthology being released July 20th, featuring resistance/protest themed romances. It includes stories from Amy Jo Cousins, Tamsen Parker, Adriana Anders, and more! I’m really excited about this and I know Redheadedgirl is as well.
Burning Bright by Megan Hart, KK Hendin, Stacey Agdern, and Jennifer Gracen is 99c! This is a Hanukkah romance anthology with a foreword by our very own Sarah! A lot of readers found it refreshing to finally have an anthology celebrating Hanukkah. However, some readers thought the collection was imbalanced.
The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley is $1.99 at Amazon! This book was published in 2011, and has a 4-star average on GoodReads.
The heroine returns to her childhood summer home in Cornwall to scatter her sister’s ashes and finds a portal to the 18th century in the rose garden, and there’s a pretty hot dude back there, too. In time, I mean, and also in the rose garden.
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh is $1.99! This is the very first book in the Psy-Changeling series and for many readers, it’s what kicked off their love for Nalini Singh. However, other readers mention that the oomph of the book seemed to wane once the hero and heroine got together. But I personally loved it and the series just gets better and better. Any Psy-Changeling fans out there?
The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley is $1.99! It’s a Kindle Daily Deal and it’s being price matched by a couple other vendors! This book won a RITA® for Best Paranormal, and our RITA® Reader Challenge reviewer Malin gave it a B+, saying, “It’s a big book, which takes its time to reveal all its secrets, and I especially loved the sections set in St. Petersburg, which I was lucky enough to visit about five years back. This book really made me want to return.”
RECOMMENDED: A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet is $4.99! Thanks to Ren for the heads up yesterday. I absolutely loved this book and it’s the best book I’ve read so far this year. And while it’s not our typical less than $4 sale price, it’s definitely worth the extra buck. I gave the book an A:
I can say, without a doubt, that A Promise of Fire is going on my keeper shelf. I want more of these characters and I want more of this world. I cannot remember the last time I wanted to both savor and devour a book, and Bouchet’s writing is so engaging and magical that I wish she had some sort of backlist I could dive into for the next few months. If you’re even slightly tempted by this review or from the chapter one excerpt, buy this book. Because I need more people to discuss it with, pronto!

Moonstruck is more like an uneven pilot episode or two in a series that has potential to be entirely, utterly kickass. If it were tv, I’d keep my series recording on for a few more episodes in hopes the potential pans out. There is SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I’m 2000% here for the sequels, because this is a world worth revisiting many, many times.
