  • The Firebird

    The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley

The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley is $1.99! It’s a Kindle Daily Deal and it’s being price matched by a couple other vendors! This book won a RITA® for Best Paranormal, and our RITA® Reader Challenge reviewer Malin gave it a B+, saying, “It’s a big book, which takes its time to reveal all its secrets, and I especially loved the sections set in St. Petersburg, which I was lucky enough to visit about five years back. This book really made me want to return.”

    Two Women.
    One Mysterious Relic.
    Separated By Centuries.

Nicola Marter was born with a gift so rare and dangerous, she kept it buried deep. When she encounters a desperate woman trying to sell a small wooden carving called “The Firebird,” claiming it belonged to Russia’s Empress Catherine, it’s a problem. There’s no proof.

But Nicola’s held the object. She knows the woman is telling the truth.

Beloved by readers as varied and adventurous as her novels, you will never forget spending time in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Susanna Kearsley’s world.

  • The Bronze Horseman

The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons

RECOMMENDED: The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons is $1.99! SO MANY READERS love this book. And it’s easily one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read. This is an emotionally intense historical romance set in Russia during WWII. Some readers lose their consonants when describing how much they love this book; others found the story too melodramatic. This is one where people love it or really hate it, but those who love it can go on for hours about all the things they adored. Have you read this book?

The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights, all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur, or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler’s armies attack Russia and begin their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.

Yet there is light in the darkness. Tatiana meets Alexander, a brave young officer in the Red Army. Strong and self-confident, yet guarding a mysterious and troubled past, he is drawn to Tatiana—and she to him. Starvation, desperation, and fear soon grip their city during the terrible winter of the merciless German siege. Tatiana and Alexander’s impossible love threatens to tear the Metanova family apart and expose the dangerous secret Alexander so carefully protects—a secret as devastating as the war itself—as the lovers are swept up in the brutal tides that will change the world and their lives forever.

  • Heiress Without a Cause

Heiress Without a Cause by Sara Ramsey

Heiress Without a Cause by Sara Ramsey is 99c at Amazon and FREE elsewhere!  This is book one in the Muses of Mayfair series and has a heroine who is a master at hiding in plain sight, and a hero who needs a chaperone for his sisters.

This one Amazon review made me snort: Good story overshadowed by pages of sex! If you are looking for a clean regency romance – this is not it!

One title to change his life…

A disgraced son with a dark reputation, William “Ferguson” Avenel is content to live in exile–until his father dies in the scandal of the Season. With rumors of insanity swirling around them, his sisters desperately need a chaperone. Ferguson thinks he’s found the most proper woman in England–and he won’t ruin her, even if he secretly desires the passionate woman trapped beneath a spinster’s cap.

One chance to break the rules…

Lady Madeleine Vaillant can’t face her blighted future without making one glorious memory for herself. In disguise, on a London stage, she finds all the adoration she never felt from the ton. But when she’s nearly recognized, she will do anything to hide her identity–even setting up her actress persona as Ferguson’s mistress. She’ll take the pleasure he offers, but Madeleine won’t lose her heart in the bargain.

One season to fall in love…

Every stolen kiss could lead to discovery, and Ferguson’s old enemies are determined to ruin them both. But as their dangerous passion ignites their hearts and threatens their futures, how can an heiress who dreams of freedom deny the duke who demands her love?

  • The Masquerade

    The Masquerade by Brenda Joyce

The Masquerade by Brenda Joyce is $1.99 at Amazon and $2.24 elsewhere! This is a historical romance with a secret baby and it has a 4-star rating on Goodreads. Some readers found the heroine to be a bit of a doormat, while others thought the development and pacing was perfect, as it kept them engaged and reading. Have you read this one?

On the evening of her first masquerade, shy Elizabeth Anne Fitzgerald is stunned by Tyrell de Warenne’s whispered suggestion of a midnight rendezvous in the gardens. Lizzie has secretly worshipped the unattainable lord for years. When fortune takes a maddening turn, she is prevented from meeting Tyrell, but she cannot foresee that this night is only the beginning….

Tyrell de Warenne is shocked when, two years later, Lizzie arrives on his doorstep with a child she claims is his. He remembers her well— and knows that he could not possibly be the father. What is this game she is playing …and why? Is Elizabeth Anne Fitzgerald a woman of experience, or the gentle innocent she seems? But neither scandal nor deception can thwart a love too passionate to be denied….

That Amazon comment for Heiress Without A Cause made me IMMEDIATELY get it, haha. (I used the affiliate link for B&N, but since it’s free, does SBTB get any sort of kickback?)

  2. KateB says:

The Bronze Horseman is certainly melodramatic, but in a way that it’s trying to capture a 17 year-old (at the start) girl’s experience of love and loss during wartime. And not a 30 year-old mind in a teen character or even a particularly …precocious (can a teenager be precocious?) 17 year-old. Just your straight-up the center teen caught in an epic novel. Most of it is deep in her POV and reads that way.

And boy. I read it for the first time when I was 17 and it just hit me in the exact right way. I still try to read it once a year or so because it’s imprinted on my reader’s heart.

  3. Ren Benton says:

“I feel misled because this book with the cover depicting a young woman humping the leg of a shirtless man wearing coincidentally-I’m-sure flesh-toned pants was not the clean regency romance I was expecting.”

I’m just stuck on Flesh-Toned Pants Guy’s utter lack of expression. She’s clinching for all she’s worth, blissfully unaware he’s staring into space, wishing he were holding Ryan Reynolds instead.

  4. No, the Other Anne says:

I’ve been coveting The Firebird for what feels like ages, but it’s still 13.59 on Kobo. Sad face. What’s a faithful reader to do? So I bought it and submitted a price matching request. Fingers crossed! And maybe then they’ll update the price for other Kobo users and Kearsley fans out there.

  5. SusanK says:

I believe the Kearsley book is coupon eligible at Kobo. Try the following promo code for 90% off – DSCVR90BK

  6. No, the Other Anne says:

Thank you, SusanK, and may all your good wishes come true!
