This HaBO comes from Rose, who is looking for a historical romance:
The heroine asks hero to assess things she inherited (including lewd paintings, instructionals, and sex toys). The hero and heroine have an affair and go to hero’s estate. There are some explicit sex scenes in there (including one on top of a table after having lunch in the inn). At the hero’s estate, one of his staff keeps trying to kill the heroine by arranging “accidents” because they are obsessed with the hero. Every chapter of this book opens with a letter, mostly from the obsessed member of staff.
I actually found this posted on Goodreads, and I’d really like to read this book. I figured it will be easy enough to confirm if people were able to provide suggestions. Thank you!
Getting busy after having lunch is a no from me.
Definitely Claimed by a Marquis by Carole Mortimer
Inherited sex toys leaves me with hygiene questions.
Is this an historical romance or a contemporary one? Raises the question about just when were sex toys invented?
Letters from an obsessed admirer… no no no
This sounds amazing!
The Mortimer book is a Regency. Hallie Lieberman wrote a book called “Buzz: A Stimulating History of the Sex Toy”, going back to prehistoric times (based on her PhD dissertation). This article includes an interview with the author: https://www.thecut.com/2017/11/the-30-000-year-history-of-the-sex-toy.html
Please tell me they do not press Grandma’s ivory geegaws into the heroine’s cinnabar cavern of wonder!
Following.
