  • Wicked Intentions

    Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt

RECOMMENDED: Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt is $1.99! I listened to this on audio after Elyse’s great review and loved it. I’ve since listened to the next two Maiden Lane books on audio as well.  Elyse really enjoyed this book and gave it an A-.

A man controlled by his desires…

Infamous for his wild, sensual needs, Lazarus Huntington, Lord Caire, is searching for a savage killer in St. Giles, London’s most notorious slum. Widowed Temperance Dews knows St. Giles like the back of her hand— she’s spent a lifetime caring for its inhabitants at the foundling home her family established. Now that home is at risk.

A woman haunted by her past…

Caire makes a simple offer—in return for Temperance’s help navigating the perilous alleys of St. Giles, he will introduce her to London’s high society so that she can find a benefactor for the home. But Temperance may not be the innocent she seems, and what begins as cold calculation soon falls prey to a passion that neither can control—one that may well destroy them both.

    A bargain neither could refuse.

  • The Guinevere Deception

The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White

The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White is $1.99! I talk about this in a previous Hide Your Wallet and it’s really gorgeous in person. I bought it from my local indie, but of course, it’s sitting in a stack somewhere. Did you read this one?

From New York Times bestselling author Kiersten White comes a new fantasy series reimagining the Arthurian legend, set in the magical world of Camelot.

There was nothing in the world as magical and terrifying as a girl.

Princess Guinevere has come to Camelot to wed a stranger: the charismatic King Arthur. With magic clawing at the kingdom’s borders, the great wizard Merlin conjured a solution–send in Guinevere to be Arthur’s wife . . . and his protector from those who want to see the young king’s idyllic city fail. The catch? Guinevere’s real name–and her true identity–is a secret. She is a changeling, a girl who has given up everything to protect Camelot.

To keep Arthur safe, Guinevere must navigate a court in which the old–including Arthur’s own family–demand things continue as they have been, and the new–those drawn by the dream of Camelot–fight for a better way to live. And always, in the green hearts of forests and the black depths of lakes, magic lies in wait to reclaim the land. Arthur’s knights believe they are strong enough to face any threat, but Guinevere knows it will take more than swords to keep Camelot free.

Deadly jousts, duplicitous knights, and forbidden romances are nothing compared to the greatest threat of all: the girl with the long black hair, riding on horseback through the dark woods toward Arthur. Because when your whole existence is a lie, how can you trust even yourself?

  • God Save the Queen

God Save the Queen by Kate Locke

God Save the Queen by Kate Locke is $1.99! This is an alternate history, steampunk novel with a romantic element. Scrolling through Goodreads reviews, it seems people wither really enjoyed it or were meh. I’m curious!

Queen Victoria rules with an immortal fist.

The undead matriarch of a Britain where the Aristocracy is made up of werewolves and vampires, where goblins live underground and mothers know better than to let their children out after dark. A world where being nobility means being infected with the Plague (side-effects include undeath), Hysteria is the popular affliction of the day, and leeches are considered a delicacy. And a world where technology lives side by side with magic. The year is 2012.

Xandra Vardan is a member of the elite Royal Guard, and it is her duty to protect the Aristocracy. But when her sister goes missing, Xandra will set out on a path that undermines everything she believed in and uncover a conspiracy that threatens to topple the empire. And she is the key-the prize in a very dangerous struggle.

  • The Last King

The Last King by Katee Robert

The Last King by Katee Robert is 99c! This is the first book in The Kings series. The man on a motorcycle gives me motorcycle club vibes. Can anyone confirm or deny that element in the book? Robert usually writes steamier contemporaries with alpha heroes and I  know Elyse is a fan.

Ultra wealthy and super powerful, the King family is like royalty in Texas. But who will keep the throne? New York Times bestselling author Katee Robert introduces a red-hot new series.

THE MAN SHE HATES TO LOVE

Beckett King just inherited his father’s fortune, his company-and all his enemies. If he’s going to stay on top, he needs someone he can trust beside him. And though they’ve been rivals for years, there’s no one he trusts more than Samara Mallick.

The rebel. That’s how Samara has always thought of Beckett. And he’s absolutely living up to his unpredictable ways when he strides into her office and asks for help. She can’t help wondering if it’s a legit request or just a ploy to get her into bed. Not that she’d mind either one. After all, she likes to live on the edge too.

But soon the threats to the King empire are mounting, and the two find family secrets darker than they ever imagined and dangerous enough to get them both killed.

  1. DiscoDollyDeb says:

I’ve liked a lot of Katee Robert’s books—but I never got around to The Kings series—however, I don’t think this is an MC romance. As far as I can tell, Robert has only published two books in the series and the second book (FEARLESS KING) is also 99-cents right now.

  2. Sarah Peach says:

I was able to pick up Lauren Dane’s Opening Up (Ink and Chrome, Book 1) and Completely Yours (Opposites Attract, Book 1) by Erin Nicholas for $ 0.99 each at Amazon.

    I had each on my to-read list…even though I can’t remember why… it’s going to be a nice surprise!

  3. Lisa F says:

Pick up the Hoyt if you can! It’s a marvel!

  4. Floating Lush says:

I enjoyed the Kate Locke books. They’re by the same author as THE GIRL IN THE STEEL CORSET–she has about ten different names she writes under–but adult, not YA. They are on the grittier end of the steampunk spectrum, but still quite fun.

  5. Floating Lush says:

Actually, the entire Kate Locke series is on sale for $1.99 each! Snap them up if you like Meljean Brook, Bec McMaster, or Gail Carriger.

  6. Mrs. Obed Marsh says:

That Hoyt is great, but geez, that cover. Usually the adage about judging a book by its cover is false – the cover can tell you a lot about the content of a book – but here it’s true.
