Hero played piano and sang Rod Stewart’s “You’re in My Heart” (“you’ll be my breath should I grow old”).
Heroine cared for his niece and nephew while their mother received medical treatment and mother’s name was Marigold. The heroine met the mother and two children on a ship and helped because mother was ill. I believe father is deceased and the uncle blames the mother resulting in unfair hard feelings.
There is a picnic scene with the mother as she gets stronger.

It might be “Run Before the Wind”, by Mary Moore. It was part of the Harlequin Romance line, published in 1982. The book can be borrowed through openlibrary.org (book link) – the Rod Stewart reference is on p. 102: “James ended with a lovely Rod Stewart tune. It was a few years old, but some of the words held that haunting appeal. ‘You’ll be my breath when I grow old.'”
