Tangled in Texas by Kari Lynn Dell is $1.99! I mentioned this in February 2017’s Hide Your Wallet because it was recommended to me by a fellow romance reader. The first book in this series is free and the third book is $2.99. Readers enjoyed this emotional second chance romance, but others found the writing a bit dense.

Kari Lynn Dell’s Texas Rodeo series reminds me in some ways of Pamela Clare’s Colorado High Country novels: lots of technical detail (and accompanying competence porn), along with stories that are just as much character studies as romances. And as with Clare’s books, Dell’s books slowly creep up on you and reward careful reading. Not books that you’d pick up when you want something quick, but if you’re looking for something a bit richer with a slower pace, I’d recommend them.

I liked A Duchess in Name enough to look up the following books…except they didn’t exist yet. Thanks for the reminder! I’m going to have to do a reread of the first one, since it’s been a few years.

There are 7 (!) Rogue anthologies (Rogue Desire, Rogue Affair, etc) – I think at least some were reviewed here. I’ve read and enjoyed a few of them – the stories are uneven but relatively diverse – not all feature white / straight / cis protags.
THE MODEL BAKERY COOKBOOK is $2.99. I’m not going to peck out my whole squee on the tablet, but homemade croissants alone are worth this price.
A Duchess In Name Only was a true delight of a book. It’s not friends to lovers or enemies to lovers, it’s “meh, off to Italy; I’ve got stuff to dig up” vs “meh, what color should I paint the breakfast room?” to lovers. Will warn you he is a major jerk for a goodly portion of the book.

@LZ: The problem with that, of course, is that one person’s C book might be another’s A+. 🙂
@Susan: It happens to me all the time. A book that everyone in Romancelandia seems to rave about (cough—THE HATING GAME—cough) is just “meh” to me; while a book that I rave about (cough—GOING NOWHERE FAST—cough) elicits shrugs in others. Personal preference is such an idiosyncratic thing.
IMO, the superior McGoldrick series is Macpherson clan stories.
