  • The Bloodprint

The Bloodprint by Ausma Zehanat Khan

The Bloodprint by Ausma Zehanat Khan is $2.99! Thanks to Nerdalisque for letting us know about this sale! This is the first in a fantasy series and was stuck in Elyse’s bookmas tree for a while. Readers loved the authors descriptive writing style, but felt they couldn’t get a good grasp on the characters.

A dark power called the Talisman has risen in the land, born of ignorance and persecution. Led by a man known only known as the One-eyed Preacher, it is a cruel and terrifying movement bent on world domination—a superstitious patriarchy that suppresses knowledge and subjugates women. And it is growing.

But there are those who fight the Talisman’s spread, including the Companions of Hira, a diverse group of influential women whose power derives from the Claim—the magic inherent in the words of a sacred scripture. Foremost among them is Arian and her apprentice, Sinnia, skilled warriors who are knowledgeable in the Claim. This daring pair have long stalked Talisman slave-chains, searching for clues and weapons to help them battle their enemy’s oppressive ways. Now, they may have discovered a miraculous symbol of hope that can destroy the One-eyed Preacher and his fervid followers: The Bloodprint, a dangerous text the Talisman has tried to erase from the world.

Finding a copy of The Bloodprint promises to be their most dangerous undertaking yet, an arduous journey that will lead them deep into Talisman territory. Though they will be helped by allies—a loyal ex-slave and Arian’s former confidante and sword master—both Arian and Sinnia know that this mission may well be their last.

  • Daring Miss Danvers

Daring Miss Danvers by Vivienne Lorret

Daring Miss Danvers by Vivienne Lorret is 99c! This is the first book in the Wallflower Wedding series and features a fake engagement. Readers suggest this book for a sweet and fluffy read, but mention it’s not big on historical accuracy. Are you a Lorret fan?

It’s all fun and games . . . until someone falls in love.

Oliver Goswick, Viscount Rathburn, needs money—and soon. With time ticking away and his inheritance held hostage until he’s properly wed, Rathburn’s slim options point to a single solution: a faux engagement. In need of the perfect bride, he knows of only one candidate: his best friend’s wallflower sister. The plan seems flawless, except for one problem . . . He can’t help falling in love with her.

Poised, polished Emma Danvers knows nothing good can come of Rathburn’s scheme. Spending the next two months engaged in a mock courtship is not what she’d imagined for her final season. Yet, charmed by his roguish ways and the inexplicable hammering he causes in her heart, she accepts his challenge.

For Emma, keeping the secret seemed easy when it was just a game . . . But as Rathburn begins to see past her reserved exterior to the passionate woman within, the risk of losing her heart becomes all too real.

  • The Fixer

    The Fixer by HelenKay Dimon

The Fixer by HelenKay Dimon is 99c! This book was featured on December 2016’s Hide Your Wallet and I was super pumped about it. As of today, it has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads, and many readers loved the dynamic between the hero and heroine. However, some found the book a bit repetitive, which slowed down the pacing.

He’s known only as Wren. A wealthy, dangerously secretive man, he specializes in making problems disappear. A professional fixer, Wren hides a dark past, but his privacy is shattered when Emery Finn seeks him out—and what she wants from him is very personal.

Some people disappear against their will. Emery’s job is to find them and bring closure. Wren is the only person who can help solve Emery’s own personal mystery: the long-ago disappearance of her cousin. Just tracking down the sexy, brooding Wren is difficult enough. Resisting her body’s response to him will prove completely impossible.

Anonymity is essential to Wren’s success, yet drawn by Emery’s loyalty and sensuality, he’s pulled out of the shadows. But her digging is getting noticed by the wrong people. And as the clues start to point to someone terrifyingly close, Wren will have to put his haunted past aside to protect the woman he loves.

  • Hot in Hellcat Canyon

Hot in Hellcat Canyon by Julie Anne Long

Hot in Hellcat Canyon by Julie Anne Long is $1.99! This is the first book in her Hellcat Canyon series, which is contemporary romance. It was also nominated for a RITA last year. Readers enjoyed the banter and flirtation between the hero and heroine, though some readers found it forgettable. Have you read this one?

A broken truck, a broken career, and a breakup heard around the world land superstar John Tennessee McCord in Hellcat Canyon. Legend has it that hearts come in two colors there: gold or black. And that you can find whatever you’re looking for, whether it’s love . . . or trouble. JT may have found both in waitress Britt Langley.

His looks might cause whiplash and weak knees, but Britt sees past JT’s rough edge and sexy drawl to a person a lot like her: in need of the kind of comfort best given hot and quick, with clothes off and the lights out.

Her wit is sharp but her eyes and heart—not to mention the rest of her—are soft, and JT is falling hard. But Britt has a secret as dark as the hills, and JT’s past is poised to invade their present. It’s up to the people of Hellcat Canyon to help make sure their future includes a happily ever after.

I’ve read “Daring Miss Danvers.” It’s an adorable beach read. Nothing dark, good chemistry, done in an afternoon – two tops.

  2. Carla says:

I loved “Hot in Hellcat Canyon” which surprised me because I don’t usually like books that feature famous actors or athletes as the h/h. I loved the characters and the dialogue. It took me twice as long to read because I was constantly having to re-read paragraphs, the dialogue was just that good.

I just bought “The Fixer” this past weekend… patience is a virtue.

Still, it’s pretty good so far. Definitely worth 99¢.

  5. Katie C. says:

I wasn’t a big fan of The Fixer – the hero was both waaaay too alpha and not alpha enough which I I know doesn’t make any sense, but that’s how I felt. Sometimes he wasn’t assertive enough and other times he was an asshole. Also be warned that both the hero and heroine have extremely dark back stories.

I liked the writing enough that I may be willing to try another one in the series.
