Heart on Fire by Amanda Bouchet releases on January 2, 2018 and is the final book in the Kingmaker Chronicles trilogy. But we have five ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) to give to five lucky readers!
And if you’re curious (like me, I admit) you can follow Amanda on Facebook to get details her next writing project.
I really loved the first book in this series, A Promise of Fire, to which I gave an A grade. What I enjoyed so much about the book is how Cat is an anti-heroine. It’s a great role reversal. She’s tortured and broody and doesn’t always make the purest choices. The hero is her salve and he’s been chosen to help her heal, rather than the usual other way around. I also highly recommend the books for nerds of Greek mythology. I suggest reading through the comments on my review as well to get a broader look at how other readers felt about the book.
If you’re looking to start the series, A Promise of Fire ( A | BN | K | G | AB ) is currently available for less than $3, as is its sequel, Breath of Fire ( A | BN | AB ).
We want to thank the Sourcebooks Casablanca team for providing 5 ARCs to give away to our readers. Thanks, Sourcebooks!
To enter, just leave a comment telling us the ideal way you’d want to enjoy Heart on Fire! A readathon with friends? A comfy blanket and a glass of wine? In a hammock on a sunny beach somewhere?
Standard disclaimers apply: Open to US and Canadian readers. Crying is always allowed when a series ends. Please, no practicing of fire magic indoors. And should any of you become a ruler of a magical kingdom, be sure to mind your manners and pick out a badass crown. Comments will close Friday 8 December and the winners announced shortly afterward.
Good luck, everyone!
WINNER UPDATE: Congratulations to the five winners below! Please, check your email inbox and spam folders shortly. Thank you to all who participated and we hope you enjoy Heart on Fire.

I’d read it like I read the other 2 in the series. Open it up, turn the pages, and only leave the couch to take the book with me to the kitchen or bathroom until the final page has been turned. I’m SO looking forward to this book! I hate to see the series end, it’s been one of the ones I’ve reread a few times already and I’d love for there to be more than just 3 to reread later.
I’d read it with a comfy blanket, a cup of tea, and my dog curled up next to me.
Two words: Christmas roadtrip!
I’ll be under a nice warm blanket doing an all-night reading binge. I know I should make it last since it’s the last one, but that’ll never happen.
Ooooh, probably snuggled up in bed after telling everyone I’m “napping” so they leave me alone.
Curled up in my bed with good lighting and no one to bother me until I finish the book.
I will be starting the reread of the first two books as the new year turns, so I’m ready to start this one with everything fresh in my mind. Some leftover dip and potato chips and veggies, maybe a few gingerbread cookies at a later break, and lots of water to keep hydrated (winter is so drying) and I’m good to read!
I have a new baby and a preschooler, so just having a day to read it all in one shot sounds amazing!
I am looking forward to reading the whole trilogy together, I’ve been savings the others and haven’t read them yet… so I’d need a whole, uninterrupted weekend to get through them all. (Never going to happen, but a girl can dream, right?)
Realistically I will curl up on my couch under a pile of blankets to read this. If I could though, I would bring a stack of books (this one being on top) to a cabin in the mountains. I would turn off my cell phone, leave my laptop at home, and read by the fire.
Honestly, I work full-time and go to graduate school full-time so just getting a chance to read this before school starts back up would be a dream!
I’d definitely be reading it curled up under a blanket, cuddling the dog and drinking a hot cup of tea…or maybe a glass of wine.
I will be reading this the night I receive it, with the whole family tucked into bed and just me and bad decisions book club together until the last page or my alarm goes off, which is ever comes first!
