Night of the Witch by Sara Raasch and Beth Revis

Night of the Witch

TW: Violence, violence to animals, death of parent Night of the Witch is part historical fantasy and part paranormal romance. It’s the first book in a series, but doesn’t really end on a cliff hanger and the romance gets a full arc by the end, so it’s fine as a standalone. I enjoyed the supernatural element of this book, but I really enjoyed the historical aspect as it was a time period I hadn’t read … Continue reading Night of the Witch by Sara Raasch and Beth Revis

Good morning, everyone! It’s a slow content day today so you all get to enjoy Wednesday Links a little early. It’ll pair just as well with your morning coffee or tea, as it does with your mid-afternoon snack break. Calling all gamers! I’m all the Baldur’s Gate 3 train for now. Is anyone else joining me? I have my eyes on the posh elf rogue for my romance character. Trying to avoid mentioning any spoilers! However, … Continue reading Links: Sloths, Book Clubs, & More

Hello, everyone! It’s time for Wednesday Links! By the time you’re reading this, I’ll be on my way home for Orlando. I built a lightsaber at Galaxy’s Edge on Monday and my partner and I ate and drank our way around the world at Epcot on Tuesday. I’m sure there are photos on my instagram account (I’m writing this ahead of time! Hello from the past!). I also mentioned in a previous podcast that I’m … Continue reading Links: Witches, Fashion, & More

Our Crooked Hearts by Melissa Albert

Our Crooked Hearts

Don’t start Our Crooked Hearts unless you have time to finish it. It’s such a wonderful, spooky, thrilling story that it’s hard to put down. It’s a book about imperfect parents, teenage dissatisfaction, and female empowerment and it unfolds beautifully. It’s also a remarkable ghost story. While this book has horror elements to it, it wasn’t especially scary and would be appropriate for a teen. I do want to warn readers about some violence to … Continue reading Our Crooked Hearts by Melissa Albert

Hey y’all! It’s Wednesday Links time! I love picturing us all gathering around. What do you think the vibe is today? Are we going cozy with lots of blankets and pillows? What about something with nature? The weather has been nice in New England and I’d be town to blanket fort it up in a magical tree house! My birthday is coming up! I’ll be 33! Wowee. One birthday present has already arrived from my … Continue reading Links: Dogs, Witches, & More

Cackle by Rachel Harrison

Cackle

TW: Gore, gaslighting, controlling relationships, codependency and depression, vomiting. Also SO MANY SPIDERS. Annie (our protagonist) finds some of both in her relationship with Sophie, a glamorous, elegant, mysterious woman, who lives in the small town of Rowan. This book is narrated by Annie. She has lived in New York City … Continue reading Cackle by Rachel Harrison

Hey hey! It’s Wednesday! As usual, still very tired. In person news, I got me a Peloton! I did my first ride last night with Cody Rigsby, which everyone recommended, and it was definitely a religious experience. I can’t wait to do another one, even though my butt is one big bruise. Are any of you on the Peloton train? … This wild story is making its rounds in Romancelandia, about a fraudster using Judith … Continue reading Links: Gay Witches, Piano Man, & More

Bitches Love Witches: A Hide Your Wallet Bonus

Sarah: It’s very nearly Spoooooky Season, if it’s not already. What’s the line, anyway? Appearance of Halloween candy at Costco (Uh, check, I think)? The arrival of Pumpkin Spice Everything? Check! The first time I make pumpkin bread? Check! Decor and accessories? Oh, yeeeaaaah. My local Joann’s had this guy hanging out ready to deliver some snacks the last time I went, and that was last week, still in August: Amanda and I both noticed, … Continue reading Bitches Love Witches: A Hide Your Wallet Bonus

The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gornichec

The Witch’s Heart

The Witch’s Heart is intense and magical. It is NOT a romance novel, although there are love stories in it. It is loosely based on Norse mythology. Since I know almost nothing about Norse mythology this book was full of surprises for me. Fans of Norse mythology might not get the same sense of surprise, but I think they will share my enjoyment of the rich world and characters. We begin with the story of … Continue reading The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gornichec

Breath of Magic by Teresa Medeiros

Breath of Magic

I thought it would be fun to check out an older romance that has been mentioned on the site and in comments for years but never had its own review. People, Breath of Magic, first published in 1996, is completely bonkers and while it has definitively not aged well, it has a certain dreamy charm. While I usually try not to recap the whole plot, buckle up, because this plot deserves some serious recapping. Spoilers … Continue reading Breath of Magic by Teresa Medeiros

Ready, Set, Go: Best Witch Romance!

The Rec League - heart shaped chocolate resting on the edge of a very old book

Cue the menacing cackles and the ominous music! It’s time for the most evil recommendation feature we have: READY, SET, GO! Here are the rules: We pick a specific sub-genre, trope, or type of romance, and we have to make ONE recommendation for that type. ONE. ONLY ONE. And no more than two sentences as to why. Yes, just one.  Which one book do you pick to fill that rec? You ready? What is the … Continue reading Ready, Set, Go: Best Witch Romance!
