Angel in a Devil’s Arms was just enormous fun to read. It’s sweet, it’s sexy, it’s fun, and it’s just a little bit subversive. Highly recommended.
RECOMMENDED: Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia is $2.99! Aarya wrote a Lightning Review of this one and gave it a B+, but mentions it is definitely not a romance:
There’s a touch of melancholy and longing that permeates the entire novel, but it ends with a premonition of hope. That’s all I can want in any fantasy novel.
The Duke of Midnight by Elizabeth Hoyt is $1.99! This is Maiden Lane book 6, and it has a 4.1-star average. This series in particular is a favorite here at the Pink Palace. I know both Elyse and I have really enjoyed these books. Though they can operate as standalones, I believe every three books or so starts a new major story arc. Correct me if I’m wrong!
A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik is $3.99! It’s also a Kindle Daily Deal. If you’re unsure about whether to pick up this book, I highly recommend reading Aarya’s review as well as this Goodreads review to make that decision for yourself. The comments on that GR review are also super insightful, as it contains comments from readers of color about various cultural identities present in the book.
Naomi Novik knows how to write a freaking good fantasy novel. RECOMMENDED: Uprooted by Naomi Novik is $2.99! A lot of people have recommended this book and Novik’s writing, but some readers did mention on Goodreads that the book is a bit slow at times. Do you love Novik’s writing? What did you think of this one?
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik is $2.99! This is a lovely fantasy with romantic elements. My friend and I recently discussed Novik and comparisons between Uprooted and Spinning Silver. We feel Spinning Silver was the better of the two, but both are still REALLY GOOD. What are your thoughts?
Year One by Nora Roberts is $2.99! Though the book is by Nora dang Roberts, this is more scifi/fantasy than a romance, at least in this one. The beginning is mysterious and hooked me in, but I quickly grew bored. However, Elyse loves this series, so your mileage may vary.
RECOMMEND: Hurts to Love You by Alisha Rai is $1.99! This is the third book in the Forbidden Hearts series. It’ll probably behoove you to read the previous books, as this one does wrap up some things. Elyse wrote a Lightning Review for this one and gave it a B+.
