Provenance
Provenance by Ann Leckie is $2.99 and a KDD! Leckie is an autobuy author for a lot of sci-fi fans and while this book is set in the same world as her previous trilogy, I wonder if you need to read those to understand this one. If you know, please leave your thoughts in the comments!

Untie My Heart by Judith Ivory is 99c and a Kindle Daily Deal! This is an older Victorian historical romance. I remember it being recommended on a podcast episode we did with Emily Nagoski and I added it to my TBR pile.

“Provenance” is basically stand-alone. There is probably a mention or two of events in the original trilogy, but you don’t need to have read the trilogy before reading “Provenance”.
I enjoyed CALAMITY, Constance Fay’s first book, so much. The next two never seemed to go on sale and then I forgot about all of them. I should re-read CALAMITY and see if it still works. Thanks.
UNTIE MY HEART is one of those books that I barely remember the plot, but I remember how it made me feel. I don’t want to spoil too much, but there are a pair of earrings that are important to the plot. The reveal towards the end of why the earrings are so important to the hero made me cry lovely, bittersweet tears.

If I remember correctly UNTIE MY HEART has a very racy sex scene involving a chair? I remember I liked this book but then I liked several Judith Ivory books.
@JudyW: The answer to your question is Yes. I read UNTIE MY HEART years ago but still remember that scene. It is reason alone to read the book.

This reminds me of the mmorpg game Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO), I loved the first few levels in the Shire, then lost interest when things got more intense.
