Chaos

Chaos by Constance Fay is $2.99! This is book three in the Uncharted Hearts sci-fi romance series. I DNF’d book one and was underwhelmed by book two. Perhaps I expected too much from the series. Have you read them? What did you think?
Lore Olympus meets Winter’s Orbit in this pulse-pounding romance between a space mercenary and a super soldier whose mind-control breaks when she touches him.
He’s a mind controlled killing machine, until her touch frees him
Engineer Caro Ogunyemi thinks she has everything in control. Sure, she has a dark secret in her past and aim so bad that she can’t shoot the side of a spaceship when she’s right in front of it, but those are minor details in the life of a space mercenary. When Caro embarks on a solo mission infiltrating a prison planet that is run by the deadly Pierce family, she embraces the opportunity to prove she’s a hero.
It’s there that Caro meets Leviathan, a super soldier with a chip in his head that turns him into a mindless killer. He’s drop dead gorgeous with an emphasis on drop dead, until she touches him and renders his chip inert. The danger begins when she lets him go.
In the heart of enemy territory, where love is at stake, life is treacherous and time is short, Caro and Leviathan must figure out how to recover his agency, protect her crew from Pierce’s sinister machinations, and stage a prison-break before Leviathan is lost to her―and himself―forever.

How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days by Jessie Sylva is 99c! We mentioned this one on Hide Your Wallet when it released in January. It’s a cozy fantasy with an opposites attract romance.
How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days is a comfort read fantasy romance between a halfling and a goblin: imagine a classic opposites-attract romcom taking place in those cosy scenes in the hobbits’ Shire from The Lord of the Rings. Expect magical forests, interfering wizards, lots of home cooking, and maybe even a kiss at the Harvest dance…
When a halfling, Pansy, and a goblin, Ren, each think they’ve inherited the same cottage, they make a bargain: they’ll live in the house together and whoever is driven out first forfeits their ownership. Amidst forced proximity and cultural misunderstandings, the two begin to fall in love.
But when the cottage – and their communities – are threatened by a common enemy, the duo must learn to trust each other, and convince goblins and halflings to band together to oust the tall intruder.
Perfect for fans of cosy fantasy novels including Legends and Lattes, The House in the Cerulean Sea and The Lord of the Rings.

Provenance by Ann Leckie is $2.99 and a KDD! Leckie is an autobuy author for a lot of sci-fi fans and while this book is set in the same world as her previous trilogy, I wonder if you need to read those to understand this one. If you know, please leave your thoughts in the comments!
Following her record-breaking debut trilogy, Ann Leckie, winner of the Hugo, Nebula, Arthur C. Clarke and Locus Awards, returns with a thrilling new story of power, theft, privilege and birthright.

Untie My Heart by Judith Ivory is 99c and a Kindle Daily Deal! This is an older Victorian historical romance. I remember it being recommended on a podcast episode we did with Emily Nagoski and I added it to my TBR pile.
Stuart Aysgarth, the new Viscount Mount Villiars, doesn’t know he’s playing with fire when he inadvertently runs afoul of Emma Hotchkiss. True, the exquisite Yorkshire lady is a mere sheep farmer, but she also guards a most colorful past that makes her only more appealing to the handsome, haunted lord. “Provenance” is basically stand-alone. There is probably a mention or two of events in the original trilogy, but you don’t need to have read the trilogy before reading “Provenance”.
I enjoyed CALAMITY, Constance Fay’s first book, so much. The next two never seemed to go on sale and then I forgot about all of them. I should re-read CALAMITY and see if it still works. Thanks.
UNTIE MY HEART is one of those books that I barely remember the plot, but I remember how it made me feel. I don’t want to spoil too much, but there are a pair of earrings that are important to the plot. The reveal towards the end of why the earrings are so important to the hero made me cry lovely, bittersweet tears.
