  1. Lisa F says:

Salt and Broom would be right up my alley; i’m sorry the execution sucked.

  2. Darlynne says:

I really enjoyed SALT AND BROOM. Jane Aire’s skill with herbs and charms showed a greater confidence in her abilities than the original Jane Eyre, imo. I don’t recall Carrie’s review sufficiently, but that’s why I bought the book. YMMV.

  3. LML says:

I enjoyed The Counterfeit Scoundrel very much. Just…not enough to pay $9.99 for an ebook version of the second-in-series. Come on, publishers. Consider lowering your ebook prices so that authors receive some royalties instead of no royalties when readers don’t purchase the book at all, find it at a library, or borrow it from a friend.

@LML, I think the other books will periodically go on sale also; I have them and know I didn’t pay $9.99 each for them :/

  6. Maeve says:

Just a heads up that the main character in Voyage of the Damned is extremely annoying, because he is trying very hard to be that way. The society also doesn’t make a lot of sense, but if you run with it the book does improve.

  7. Kris Bock says:

I really enjoyed Voyage of the Damned, but it did take some time before I felt fully invested. Also there’s a very high body count, including some fairly likable characters.

  8. NomadiCat says:

Originally got Voyage of the Damned from the library and was fascinated enough that I snagged it for my permanent collection the last time it went on sale.

@Maeve is 100% correct: the protagonist spends a great deal of time being outlandish annoying for genuinely important plot reasons. He’s an unconventional hero and that plus the murder plot amd the wtf-ery of the world building kept me sufficiently invested through the end.

All in all, it’s a fascinating debut novel if you’re looking for something a little different in your epic fantasy.

  9. LML says:

@flchen1, thanks! I’ll be more observant for Lorraine Heath titles.
