  • Heartbreaker

    Heartbreaker by Sarah MacLean

Heartbreaker by Sarah MacLean is $1.99! This is book two in the Hell’s Belles series. It also appears to be a road trip romance, which I happen to enjoy!

New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean follows her highly acclaimed Bombshell with Heartbreaker, featuring a fierce, fearless heroine on a mission to steal a duke’s secrets…and his heart.

    HEARTBREAKER Hell’s Belles, Book 2

    A Princess of Thieves

Raised among London’s most notorious criminals, a twist of fate landed Adelaide Frampton in the bright ballrooms of Mayfair, where she masquerades as a quiet wallflower–so plain and unassuming that no one realizes she’s the Matchbreaker…using her superior skills as a thief to help brides avoid the altar.

    A King of Reputation

Henry, Duke of Clayborn, has spent a lifetime living in perfection. He has no time for the salacious gossip that arises every time the Matchbreaker ends another groom. His own reputation is impeccable–and the last thing he needs is a frustrating, fascinating woman discovering the truth of his past, or the secrets he holds close.

    A Royal Match

When the two find themselves on a breakneck journey across Britain to stop a wedding, it’s impossible for Clayborn to resist this woman who both frustrates and fascinates him. But late-night carriage rides make for delicious danger…and soon Adelaide is uncovering Clayborn’s truths, throwing his well-laid plans into chaos…and threatening to steal his heavily guarded heart.

  • If the Shoe Fits

If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy

If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy is $1.99! This is a Cinderella-inspired retelling. It also has a reality show element. I’m very excited about this updated Disney princess series.Jasmine Guillory has since written Beauty & the Beast retelling and a Little Mermaid one is out soon.

After having just graduated with a degree in shoe design, and trying to get her feet on the ground, Cindy is working for her stepmother, who happens to be the executive producer of America’s favorite reality show, Before Midnight. When a spot on the show needs filling ASAP, Cindy volunteers, hoping it might help jump-start her fashion career, or at least give her something to do while her peers land jobs in the world of high fashion.

Turns out being the only plus size woman on a reality dating competition makes a splash, and soon Cindy becomes a body positivity icon for women everywhere. What she doesn’t expect? That she may just find inspiration—and love—in the process. Ultimately, Cindy learns that if the shoe doesn’t fit, maybe it’s time to design your own.

  • A Lowcountry Bride

A Lowcountry Bride by Preslaysa Williams

A Lowcountry Bride by Preslaysa Williams is $1.99! This is a romance set in one of my favorite places: Charleston, South Carolina. If I ever had to live south of the Mason-Dixon line again, I’d probably pick SC. Sarah also had Williams on the podcast!

A heartwarming Avon debut of love, forgiveness, and new beginnings set in the beautiful South Carolina Lowcountry.

Maya Jackson has worked for Laura Whitcomb, Inc, a renowned New York City bridal gown brand, for years and dreams of becoming Head Designer. She has the talent; she just needs a chance to showcase her unique style. Due to an illness, she’s always prioritized her career over her personal life until her father fractures his hip and Maya returns to Charleston, South Carolina. While home for only a few months, she’s thrilled to find an opportunity at the local bridal gown boutique, never expecting sparks to fly with its owner…

A military veteran and widowed father, Derek Sullivan hopes to save Always a Bride from bankruptcy in order to preserve the legacy of his mother. He also wants to reconnect with his estranged, twelve-year-old daughter, who is still recovering from the loss of her mother. The last thing he needs is a relationship with a beautiful, smart, complicated woman who will be leaving soon.

When Derek begins to fall for the lovely Maya, he knows there’s no future. But destiny has its own plans, and these two lonely people with big hearts discover that coming home to love is the best gift life can give.

  • Mad About You

Mad About You by Mhairi McFarlane

Mad About You by Mhairi McFarlane is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance about two strangers who become roommates and carry their own baggage around marriage and weddings. McFarlane’s books have been favorably mentioned on the site, but I see the common critique that they often contain more much serious topics than the covers/description imply.

International bestseller Mhairi McFarlane delivers a sharp, emotional new novel about a woman who calls off her engagement to “the perfect man” and moves in with a charming stranger who makes her question everything about her life, her past, and the secrets she’s kept for far too long…

Harriet Hatley is the most in-demand wedding photographer in town, but she doesn’t believe in romance, loathes the idea of marriage, and thinks chocolate fountains are an abomination. Which is why, when her long-time partner proposes, she panics. Suddenly Harriet is single… and living down the hall from her ex. She needs a new apartment, like, yesterday.

Enter Cal Clarke, a hopeless romantic who just experienced his own wedding-related disaster. Harriet and Cal are like chalk and cheese, but as they go from strangers to roommates to friends, it becomes clear they’re both running from something. When Harriet’s most heavily guarded secret comes to light, her world implodes. And Cal, with his witty humor and gentle advice, is a surprising source of calm at the center of the storm.

With her career, friendships, and reputation on the line, Harriet must finally face her past in order to take control of her future. Because if she’s willing to stop playing it safe and risk everything to share her truth, real love and happiness may be waiting on the other side…

Breathless (Old West Book 2) by Beverly Jenkins (Author) is $3.99. Was previously recommended on a Rec League for competence pr0n.

Her Bossy Billionaire: Five Spicy Romances by Mari Carr is $.99. Includes Hard and Fast, Wild Temptation, Full Position, Sugar and Spice, and Captivated.

This anthology is a must-have for fans of those bad boy billionaire bosses and an amazing way to “test drive” five of Mari Carr’s most popular series, including Italian Stallions, Wilder Irish, Big Easy, Scoundrels, and What Women Want.

  3. FashionablyEvil says:

I really wanted to love the Hell’s Belles series, but I continue to find MacLean to be a bit uneven—there’s always something about her books that kind of tips me towards “meh,” in this case the balance between Addie and Henry, the presence of the Belles versus Addie and Henry, and the speed with which Henry recovers from serious bodily injury (stab wound, broken ribs, and a raging infection.) It’s a fun read but doesn’t quite come together for me.

  4. flchen1 says:

White Hot (Hidden Legacy 2) by Ilona Andrews is $2.99

  5. KitBee says:

I really liked Mad about You — I’m a McFarlane fan, and this is one of her best — but I’d agree with the caveat that her books often contain darker-than-expected themes. In this one, a lot of time (like maybe a third of the book) is spent on Harriet’s relationship with an abusive ex, so readers who are sensitive to that topic should skip this one. But the book does end happily, there’s a very nice romance, and the abusive ex gets a satisfying comeuppance!

Earl of Every Sin in Scarlett Scott’s Sins & Scoundrels series is free today… Amazon only as most of her books are KU exclusive.

  8. Star says:

@FashionablyEvil I have a similar response to Maclean, and it bothered me so much that I thought too hard about it and eventually concluded that she is too talented for her own good, which is hands down the weirdest critique I’ve ever had about any artist.

She’s a good writer in a technical sense, but she also has a gift for evoking emotions in her audience, and I think she has a tendency to lean so hard on that gift that she neglects other aspects of crafting the story. So she’ll produce characters, scenes, plots, etc that evoke strong feelings but don’t actually make sense with the text, or with each other, or something like that. It’s like there’s dissonance between her prose and the logic and context of the story.

The thing that eventually gave me the Aha! moment was the book where the hero was constantly bemoaning how everyone thought he was a Brute because he’s Large, and you’re clearly supposed to feel that he’s been misjudged and badly done by…except that this guy solves literally everything that ever happens with violence! To the point of randomly just knocking down doors! He IS a brute! It’s all there in the text!

After that epiphany, I started watching for this in her books deliberately, and it’s actually fairly obvious once you look for it, although some books have more of it than others, and there’s a lot of variety in how it plays out in different books (and her final book in any series is almost always the most coherent and technically well-executed by a significant margin). If she were less talented, she’d have to work harder on crafting the overall novel, but it’s like she’s talented enough that she’s never really had to do that? and so there’s always something just a bit off.

  9. Maite says:

Mhairi McFarlane is very much “This book broke my soul, I cried a river of tears, please read it, you’ll love it”.
The covers are weird in the sense that they do represent the MC and the romantic lead, but the tone is definetely opposite to the books.

Ans, since flchen1 mentioned the Moira Rogers deal, I’ll add that the duo behind Moira Rogers is the same duo behind Kit Rocha.

  10. flchen1 says:

    Also $1.99:
    – Dating Dr. Dil: A Novel by Nisha Sharma

Has anyone read this one? Thoughts?

  11. Musical Trees says:

IF THE SHOE FITS was a fluffy and entertaining read for me. I enjoyed Cindy’s work ethic and the fact that she prioritized her career. I have no notes whatsoever on the romance, however, so it must not have left much of an impression.
