I enjoyed this story a lot. It contains many of the elements that feel like a traditional Western to me – scenes of blizzards and horse-breaking, confrontations in the local saloon, slick shysters from out East come to take advantage of the locals – but the central characters buck the stereotypes in numerous ways.
Party of Two by Jasmine Guillory is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance that operates as a standalone. Grab this one if you’re looking to collect the entire Guillory collection.
It’s Tuesday, which means new books! This is one of our busier release weeks amongst the staff. We have lots of variety in this one. There are historical romances, contemporaries, fantasy, and horror. What books are on your TBR pile? Any overlap with ours?
Read Between the Lines by Rachel Lacey is $2.49! This is a contemporary f/f romance that has been mentioned on both Book Beat and Hide You Wallet. It was also an Amazon First Reads selection, so double check your ereader before buying!
Heartbreaker by Sarah MacLean is $1.99! This is book two in the Hell’s Belles series. It also appears to be a road trip romance, which I happen to enjoy!
RECOMMENDED: The Duchess War by Courtney Milan is 99c! This is the first book in The Brothers Sinister series and Carrie gave this one an A+:
The Duchess War is lovely – smart, touching, funny, sexy, and dizzyingly romantic. Read it right away – yes, now. Everything on your to-do list can wait, believe me.
I loved the setting, the characters, the polyamorous romance, and the mecha stuff. This is an intriguing, exciting book and I can’t wait for the next one.
The Queen’s Bargain by Anne Bishop is $1.99! This book was mentioned in a previous Hide Your Wallet and is part of the Black Jewels series. I didn’t keep up with the series as a whole, so I’m unsure how this fits in. I think it focuses on secondary characters now, but correct me I’m wrong?
Get a Life, Chloe Brown saw my expectations’ proffered hand and kissed it gently, and then proceeded to charm their pants off. In a tent. With s’mores. (Not with s’mores, because s’mores apparently are not a thing in the UK.) This metaphor got away from me, but you get the idea. This book is outstanding.
RECOMMENDED: Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik is $1.99! This is a sci-fi romance and I absolutely loved it. You can read my A- here:
I am so incredibly happy that this book is in the world, especially after feeling like I’ve exhausted all my sci-fi romance options. Polaris Rising is exciting. It’s funny. It’s fan-fucking-tastic. My quibbles are minor in comparison to the joyful Good Book Noises I made while reading this.
Luck of the Draw by Kate Clayborn is $2.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! If you grabbed the previous book in the series when it was on sale, now you can grab the next one! This one has enemies entering into a fake relationship, which is all sorts of my catnip. Can I read this one out of order?
