Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Heroine Brings SWAT Member Back to Life

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO comes from Dimitrea, who is searching for a mix of what seems to be romantic suspense and paranormal romance:

This book I started many many years ago and lost it or is somehow unidentifiable in the horde of ebooks I currently own!

Strap in because my memory of the first chapter or so is bonkers.

The book opens with a SWAT/Private Mercenary team going in to rescue someone. There is a young mysterious woman with powers who encounters them on their mission (She might be the one they are trying to rescue?). A minor character on the SWAT team is mortally wounded and they all jump in the van/Hummer/Jeep/SUV to take him to the Bat Cave and save his life. He dies or is dying in the car. The mystery woman touches him, heals him, and brings him back to life.

The lead SWAT guy at this moment falls in love with the mystery woman, whom he refers to as an angel, and vows to protect her with his own life. After minor character is saved, they arrive at the home, where there are other women with powers or special attributes (it is set up as though each woman has a book in the series). Woman with the healing touch is being pursued by nefarious company OBVIOUSLY so now we have an action plot to add to the supernatural healing and love at first sight.

And that’s all I can remember. Woman gets rescued by SWAT, brings guy back from the dead, craziness ensues.

The only magical SWAT team books I know of belong to Paige Tyler and that’s more shifter than magic.

Is this a Maya Banks KGI book? Been a while since I read them but sounds maybe like Whispers in the Dark or Echoes at Dawn.

  2. Laine says:

There’s a magical healer in Maya Banks’ KGI series but the other details don’t match.

  3. Bluetomarto says:

Maybe something by Lindsey McKenna – I think she did a series mostly set in the jungle with soldier types fighting evil with a BIG dose of mysticism and magical powers. I only read a couple of them but the plot sounds like it could fit.

  4. Joy says:

Possibly Rose from Christine Feehan’s Ruthless Game. Rescued from Mexico by Kane. She has the ability to heal but hides it.

  5. JMP says:

This sounds a bit like Just One Touch by Maya Banks (https://mayabanks.com/books/just-one-touch/). The heroine has mysterious healing powers and is raised in a cult. After escaping, she attempts to steal the hero’s car to get away, and the hero (a private security guard) is shot in the crossfire after the cult comes after her. She saves his life, and he takes her to the security firm’s private compound. I haven’t read any of the other books in the Slow Burn series, but I’m pretty sure all of the heroes are part of this security firm and the heroines all have supernatural powers.

  6. Daisy says:

Ooh, this kind of sounds like Just One Touch from Maya Banks’s Slow Burn series. If I remember right, this series follows security guard (I think?) heroes and heroines with supernatural powers. Here is the blurb from Banks’s website:
Raised in a strict religious cult since she was a young girl, Jenna has no connection to the outside world beyond vague flashes of memory that seem to be from another life. Memories she clings to when the cult leaders discover her extraordinary ability to heal—and punish her. Years held captive and forced to do the cult’s bidding have turned Jenna into a meek, timid woman…or so they think. In truth, she is merely biding her time, waiting for the perfect moment to escape.
When a terrified young woman tries to steal the SUV of Devereaux Security’s toughest recruit, Isaac’s anger quickly turns to a strange sort of protectiveness for the beautiful, bruised stranger. But when they are caught in a firestorm of bullets and Isaac is hit in the chest, he’s sure the end is near, until Jenna touches him and heals his wounds. As he tries to bring Jenna to safety, she refuses to tell him what danger haunts her or how she managed to cure him, but Isaac vows to do whatever it takes to gain her trust…and her heart. Because with just one touch, Isaac knows he wants Jenna to be his—forever.

I read several in this series. One was a women who raised or trained dogs and had a psysic link with her dog. Don’t know the name of author, but don’t think a superstar.

  8. Dee says:

My first thought was the Game series by Christine Feehan but they were military, not SWAT

  9. susan says:

    Lisa Marie Rice?

  10. Meredith S. says:

This could possibly be a Rebecca Zanetti book from her Dark Protectors series. A few of the key points match, the women who have special abilities, SWAT like team of vampire brothers/relatives. Bad guys/vampires after the women. Very entertaining books if you’re into that kind of thing!! I read them all at once so I am sorry I’m not more specific.

  11. Leah says:

I was also thinking the Feehan series, but I am behind on it so am not sure.

  12. Leigh says:

Magical healing powers are also featured inTrish McCallan’s Forged in Ash, although it’s only one woman who has them, but a member of the SEAL team who she gets tangled up with also has visions/premonitions…

  13. denise says:

Reminds me of the T-FLAC series by Cherry Adair, possibly Night Shadow?

The covers have changed a few times.

  14. Dorothea says:

I love it when an HaBO crazysauce plot brings so many related suggestions, even when Amanda said “the only magical SWAT team books I know”…turns out there’s at least one shelf length of the genre. 🙂

  15. adularia16 says:

sounds like the KGI series by Maya Banks. The book is either Whispers in the Dark or

  16. Alice says:

Damn. Supernatural SWAT team fits both J.R.Ward’s The Brotherhood books and Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed books. Ward is particularly fond of people being raced around in SUV’s and both have bat-cave like compounds beneath large mansions. But there are so many books I haven’t read all of them. And both have at lease one woman with healing powers but I think I have them a bit jumbled.
