  • The Chai Factor

The Chai Factor by Farah Heron

RECOMMENDED: The Chai Factor by Farah Heron is $1.99! Aarya really loved this one and gave it an A-:

The Chai Factor is very much a swoonworthy rom-com: it’s funny and sobering, it has witty dialogue and disquieting situations, and it’s sigh-worthy and rage-inducing. I laughed, I cried, and I cheered for Amira and Duncan. The Chai Factor is an essential book for your list of summer reads.

Amira Khan has no plans to break her no-dating rule.

Thirty-year-old engineer Amira Khan has set one rule for herself: no dating until her grad-school thesis is done. Nothing can distract her from completing a paper that is so good her boss will give her the promotion she deserves when she returns to work in the city. Amira leaves campus early, planning to work in the quiet basement apartment of her family’s house. But she arrives home to find that her grandmother has rented the basement to . . . a barbershop quartet. Seriously? The living situation is awkward: Amira needs silence; the quartet needs to rehearse for a competition; and Duncan, the small-town baritone with the flannel shirts, is driving her up the wall.

As Amira and Duncan clash, she is surprised to feel a simmering attraction for him. How can she be interested in someone who doesn’t get her, or her family’s culture? This is not a complication she needs when her future is at stake. But when intolerance rears its ugly head and people who are close to Amira get hurt, she learns that there is more to Duncan than meets the eye. Now she must decide what she is willing to fight for. In the end, it may be that this small-town singer is the only person who sees her at all.

  • Wicked Intentions

    Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt

RECOMMENDED: Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt is $1.99! I listened to this on audio after Elyse’s great review and loved it. I’ve since listened to the next two Maiden Lane books on audio as well.  Elyse really enjoyed this book and gave it an A-:

Serial killer. And Ghost of St. Giles vigilante. And river pirate. And bondage.

A man controlled by his desires…

Infamous for his wild, sensual needs, Lazarus Huntington, Lord Caire, is searching for a savage killer in St. Giles, London’s most notorious slum. Widowed Temperance Dews knows St. Giles like the back of her hand— she’s spent a lifetime caring for its inhabitants at the foundling home her family established. Now that home is at risk.

A woman haunted by her past…

Caire makes a simple offer—in return for Temperance’s help navigating the perilous alleys of St. Giles, he will introduce her to London’s high society so that she can find a benefactor for the home. But Temperance may not be the innocent she seems, and what begins as cold calculation soon falls prey to a passion that neither can control—one that may well destroy them both.

    A bargain neither could refuse.

  • Baked Fresh

    Baked Fresh by Annabeth Albert

Baked Fresh by Annabeth Albert is 99c! This is a m/m romance set in Portland, Oregon with an age difference and adorable baker. Be warned, though, that this book is on the shorter side. However, it might be a good option if you want something quick and cute.

From its famous coffee to the mouthwatering fare at its cafés, restaurants, and bakeries, Portland, Oregon, has a lot to whet the appetite, including the hard-working men who serve it all up—hot, fresh, and ready to go—with no reservations…

Vic Degrassi is a baker on the rise, and it’s all thanks to his rare ability to make—and keep—his New Year’s resolutions. Whether it’s losing weight, giving up smoking, or graduating from culinary school, Vic goes after what he wants—and gets it. This year? He wants Robin Dawson, the sweet-hearted hottie who volunteers with him at the local homeless shelter.

When he learns that Robin is suddenly single after being unceremoniously dumped, Vic is more than happy to offer a shoulder to cry on—or at least a fresh-baked pastry to bite into. But it’s been a long time since Vic’s gone on a date, and he’s nervous about risking his friendship with Robin. So when their flirtation turns into a steamy night together, Vic and Robin have to figure out if they’re friends with benefits or lovers in the making, and if Robin is ready for something more than just a rebound. There’s only one way to find out: turn up the heat…

  • Kiss the Earl

Kiss the Earl by Gina Lamm

Kiss the Earl by Gina Lamm is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! I was excited about this book when it first released. The heroine is a comic book author who gets sent back in time. Readers thought it was quirky and fun, but others thought the heroine was a bit too stupid to live. But c’mon…that cover.

A modern girl’s guide to seducing Mr. Darcy

When Ella Briley asked her lucky-in-love friends to set her up for an office party, she was expecting a blind date. Instead, she’s pulled through a magic mirror and into the past…straight into the arms of her very own Mr. Darcy.

Patrick Meadowfair, earl of Fairhaven, is too noble for his own good. To save a female friend from what is sure to be a loveless marriage, he’s agreed to whisk her off to wed the man she truly wants. But all goes awry when Patrick mistakes Ella for the would-be bride and kidnaps her instead.

Centuries away from everything she knows, Ella’s finally found a man who heats her blood and leaves her breathless. Too bad he’s such a perfect gentleman. Yet the reluctant rake may just find this modern girl far too tempting for even the noblest of men to resist…

The Chai Factor is very much not a special deal on amazon.fr right now (over 10€) but I must say I’m quite relieved because I have already one-clicked too many books these weeks… 🙂

  2. hng23 says:

The Maiden Lane series is one of my faves. Time for a reread!

  3. Todd says:

I’ve enjoyed the Maiden Lane books … the copy of this I have has a different cover … that one looks nothing like what Lord Cair is described as looking like. They seem to be issuing new/reissuing older ones with that kind of cover (man in open shirt) for the series.

  4. trefoil says:

I really wanted to love The Chai Factor, but it was just sort of meh for me. I’m glad i got it from the library.

  5. Emma says:

FYI, lots of free e-books on Amazon right now, both adult and children’s books. Getting all the picture books to teach my student how to use a phone to read once school reopens…

  6. Jill-Marie says:

Apparently “Wicked Intentions” is already in my Audible library, as I was advised when I went to order it. I’m because of the SM rec. I obviously need to listen to it, LOL.

  7. Carole says:

Loved Wicked Intentions. Love Maiden Lane series – Maximus and Artemis in Book 6 (Duke of Midnight) might be my most favourite Historical Romance couple. Highly recommend and yes will add series to my Self-Isolating TBR comfort reading list…

  8. LMC says:

@Carole Duke of Midnight is also my favorite!

I am not a fan of the new covers–even the last few Maiden Lane books had the chest baring guys who all looked alike.
