In Episode 606. Behind the Scenes of Classic Cover Art: Shirley Green and Sharon Spiak, I learned about the behind-the-scenes process of creating some of the romance covers I know very well. It was a fascinating conversation, and if you’re at all interested, there’s a transcript as well as a few pictures in the show notes. I also did a bonus episode video for the members of the podcast Patreon sharing images that Sharon and … Continue reading Vintage Cover Art Behind the Scenes with Sharon Spiak and Shirley Green→

RECOMMENDED: Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake by Alexis Hall is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! Carrie and I jointly reviewed this one and agreed on a B+. As a bisexual woman, I definitely felt seen by this book and I’m here for all the baking romance reads.
RECOMMENDED: The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde is $1.99! I loved this fantasy novel and highly recommend it to readers who love the classics. Admittedly, the book does take a while to get into as you try to settle into the world building, but I think Fforde eventually finds his footing and the following books in the series just get better.
Happy Endings by Thien-Kim Lam is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance that was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet. Elyse was interested in the heroine’s business running a sex toy company, while Ellen noticed there’s a lot of great tropes.
Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews is $1.49 or $1.99 elsewhere! This is a spin-off of Andrews’ Kate Daniels series with the main character being Kate and Curran’s ward. Obviously this will be a more nuanced read if you’ve finished or are familiar with the prior series. I dropped off that train around book three.
RECOMMENDED: A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas is $2.99! Both Sarah and Carrie read this book and enjoyed it.
Sarah gave it a B+: I haven’t shut up about this book since I finished it. My outbound text messages are mostly hollering, squeeing, and long strings of vowels about this book.
I’m so excited this book exists. I’m so excited that I got to read it. I’m so excited there will be more.
Carrie gave it B: I can’t WAIT to find out what Charlotte, Livia, and Mrs. Watson are up to. I hope it involves them being protective of each other, empowering, and smart. The excitement is palpable!
Luck of the Draw by Kate Clayborn is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! If you grabbed the previous book in the series when it was on sale, now you can grab the next one! This one has enemies entering into a fake relationship, which is all sorts of my catnip. Can I read this one out of order?
RECOMMENDED: Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger by $1.99! This is the first book in the Finishing School series, which Carrie recommends. This is young adult with a steampunk historical setting. Readers loved the creative, whimsical setting, though some expressed difficulty in reading a lot at one time. They had to take breaks every few chapters because of the overwhelming twee-ness.
Only When It’s Us by Chloe Liese is 99c! This is book one in the Bergman Brothers series and later books have been mentioned on the site. This is a new adult romance romance with some enemies to lovers. There’s a note that the book was revised and expanded last year.
