Welcome back to Hide Your Wallet!
We are settling into the slow releases of December. As a reminder, we are combing release weeks next week for books coming out on the 17th and 24th. The week of Christmas is typically reserved for our “Best Of” content, which I always love putting together.
What releases are on your TBR pile this week? Let us know in the comments!

But then she gets word that not only has her beloved, eccentric Aunt Rose passed, but she’s left Madeline her equally eccentric bookstore housed in an old Victorian mansion in the small college town of Enigma. But when she arrives in her beat-up Fiat to claim The Old Juniper Bookstore, and restart her life, Madeline is faced with unexpected challenges. The gazebo in the back yard is set ablaze and a late night caller threatens to burn the whole store down if she doesn’t leave immediately.
But Madeline Brimley, not one to be intimidated, ignores the threats and soldiers on. Until there’s another fire and a murder in the store itself. Now with a cloud of suspicion falling over her, it’s up to Madeline to untangle the skein of secrets and find the killer before she herself is the next victim.

No Ordinary Duchess
Author: Elizabeth Hoyt
Released: December 10, 2024 by Forever
Genre: Historical: European, Mystery/Thriller, Romance
Series: The Greycourt #3A delicious tale of forbidden romance where the mystery that ties two lovers together might also be exactly what tears them apart.
Cold and brooding, Julian Greycourt, the heir to the Windemere dukedom, has always known that his uncle the duke was responsible for his mother’s death. Now he’s determined to exact revenge against his uncle—if he can find the proof. But Julian hides a secret so explosive it will destroy him if it’s ever revealed, and the duke is watching. The last thing he needs is a distractingly sensual woman whose very presence threatens to destroy his plans.
Sunny and cheerful, Lady Elspeth de Moray doesn’t know why her brother and Julian fell out all those years ago, but she can’t let the autocratic man get in the way of her mission: to retrieve an ancient family text that she believes is in one of the Windemere libraries. Locating the tome, however, proves trickier than she anticipated, and at each turn, she’s thrown together with the maddingly mysterious Julian. And the temptation to give in to her family’s greatest enemy grows stronger with each intriguing encounter…
Sarah: New Hoyt! I cannot explain how much delight this book’s arrival has brought me.
Elyse: Hoyt is one of my absolute favorite historical authors and I’m so excited to read this.

Not in My Book
Author: Katie Holt
Released: December 10, 2024 by Alcove Press
Genre: Contemporary Romance, RomanceThe Hating Game meets Beach Read in this sexy and hilarious contemporary romance from a debut Peruvian-Tennessean voice.
Rosie, an idealistic and passionate Peruvian-American who has grown up without strong ties to her culture, leaves her Tennessee hometown to pursue her dream of making it in New York as a writer. But her plan is derailed when she ends up in class with her arch-nemesis and ex-crush, Aiden Huntington—an obnoxious, surly, and gorgeous literary fiction writer who doesn’t have much patience for the romance genre, or for Rosie.
Rosie and Aiden regularly go to verbal battle in workshop until their professor reaches her breaking point. She allows them to stay in her class on one condition: they must co-write a novel that blends their genres.
The reluctant writing duo can’t help but put pieces of themselves into their accidentally steamy novel, and as they slowly get to know each other, they try to put their differences aside. Meanwhile, their manuscript-in-progress provides an outlet for them to confess their feelings—and explore their attraction toward each other.
When Rosie and Aiden find themselves competing against each other for a potentially career-changing opportunity, the flames of old rivalry reignite, and their once-in-a-lifetime love story is once again at risk of being shelved—unless they can find a way to end the book on their own terms.
A contemporary romance debut with aspiring writers who are enemies to lovers.

Kati Wilde’s ONLY ONE BED was tentatively scheduled for release today. Alas, it does not appear in the Kindle Store this morning, so I only have one book on my tbr this week:
Nicky James’s SYMPHONY OF SALVATION (December 13) features one of the supporting characters from her MEMORIES OF FOREVER (my favorite book of 2024 so far): a music teacher who falls for a visiting maestro who has been suppressing his sexuality most of his life. I love James’s angsty style and can’t wait for this one.
A Monsoon Rising,, the second book in Thea Guanzon’s Hurricane Wars series, is out today. Romantasy set in a Southwest Asia-inspired world. I like the first book and will add this to my TBR.
I am terribly excited for the Hoyt!
I’m so confused by the Nelson book. Enigma, GA is a REAL place. It’s so small it doesn’t even have a stop light, let alone a bookstore AND a college. Did the author not do a quick Google search before picking the name??
I got an ARC for Not in my book, and loved it, it was cute!
Celia Lake’s ELEMENTAL TRUTH (the final book in her Mysterious Fields trilogy) releases December 13th!
