Dating You/Hating You by Christina Lauren

RECOMMENDEDDating You/Hating You by Christina Lauren is $2.99! Lauren’s books rarely go on sale, so grab this one while you can. I loved this book and gave it an A-:

If you want the book-form of a great, contemporary rom-com, Dating You/Hating You will scratch that itch. No, not just scratch it. Massage it. A full body, deep-tissue Swedish massage that will leave your bones feeling like jelly, where all you can do is close your eyes and let out a deep, satisfying sigh.

All’s fair in love and work. The first standalone romance by New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren (Beautiful Bastard) is a sexy, compulsively readable romantic comedy that dives headlong into the thrill and doubt of modern love.

Despite the odds against them from an embarrassing meet-awkward at a mutual friend’s Halloween party, Carter and Evie immediately hit it off. Even the realization that they’re both high-powered agents at competing firms in Hollywood isn’t enough to squash the fire.

But when their two agencies merge—causing the pair to vie for the same position—all bets are off. What could have been a beautiful, blossoming romance turns into an all-out war of sabotage. Carter and Evie are both thirtysomething professionals—so why can’t they act like it?

Can Carter stop trying to please everyone and see how their mutual boss is really playing the game? Can Evie put aside her competitive nature long enough to figure out what she really wants in life? Can their actor clients just be something close to human? Whether these two Hollywood love/hatebirds get the storybook Hollywood ending or just a dramedy of epic proportions, you will get to enjoy Christina Lauren’s heartfelt, raucous, and hilarious romance style at its finest.

  • Moonshadow

    Moonshadow by Thea Harrison

Moonshadow by Thea Harrison is 99c! This is the first book in the Moonshadow series. This book was mentioned in December 2016’s Hide Your Wallet. I bought this one and tried reading it, but I couldn’t seem to get into it. In fairness, I was getting my hair done at the time. Have you read this one?

Her past is a blank, her future uncertain….

Recovering from a shooting, LAPD witch consultant Sophie Ross leaves her job and travels to the U.K. to search for answers about her childhood. When she encounters a Daoine Sidhe knight of the Dark Court, she becomes entangled in an ancient hatred between two arcane forces.

He has given his body and soul to fight for his people….

Barred from his homeland along with his surviving brother knights, Nikolas Sevigny is embroiled in a conflict that threatens everything he holds dear. Only by uniting his people’s resources can they hope to prevail against Isabeau, the deadly Queen of the Light Court. He will do anything and use anyone to return home to Lyonesse.

When Nikolas encounters Sophie, he sees a tool to be used. The insouciant witch might be the key to unlocking every passageway that has been barred to the knights of the Dark Court, even as a fascination for her takes root in what’s left of his soul.

Sophie has no intention of becoming anyone’s pawn, yet the fierce Nikolas is so compelling, she can’t deny the temptation that endangers her guarded heart.

As magic threatens Lyonesse, Queen Isabeau unleashes her merciless Hounds, and Nikolas and Sophie become embroiled in a race for survival. Meanwhile, the passion that ignites between them burns too hot to be denied and quickly turns into obsession.

Thank goodness they both know better than to fall in love…

  • Autumn in the Vineyard

Autumn in the Vineyard by Marina Adair

Autumn in the Vineyard by Marina Adair is 99c! There’s a star-crossed, enemies to lovers element and readers loved the smooth-talking, Italian hero. But some readers didn’t really see the gravity of the conflict between the hero and heroine. This was made into a Hallmark movie and I’ve been meaning to watch it, since it stars Rachael Leigh Cook. A couple of the other books in the St. Helena Vineyard series are also 99c!

Frankie Baudouin has a hundred reasons not to trust Nate DeLuca. First, he’s a DeLuca. Second, he kissed her—in front of the entire town—and then never called. Oh, and he’s after her land. Sorrento Ranch is Frankie’s last chance to prove to her family—and to herself—that she has what it takes to be an award-winning winemaker. And she will stop at nothing to ensure her success—even if it means playing nice with the starched, sophisticated, and oh-so-sexy Italian.

For Nate, Sorrento Ranch is more than just soil and grape vines; it was his father’s dream—a dream Nate is determined to make a reality. So when he finds himself forced to cohabitate with a hot-headed, irrational, and incredibly gorgeous Baudouin, Nate is surprised to discover that chaos could be so much fun—especially when she sleeps in nothing but lace.

  • I Dared the Duke

I Dared the Duke by Anna Bennett

I Dared the Duke by Anna Bennett is $1.99! This is book two in the Wayward Wallflowers series and features a grumpy hero and some forced proximity. Readers say this is a great light read, but at times requires some suspension of disbelief. It has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads.

    DARE TO FALL IN LOVE

Alexander Savage, the Duke of Blackshire, is known throughout the ton for three things: the burn scars on his neck, his ornery disposition, and the trail of broken hearts behind him. None of which would concern Miss Elizabeth Lacey in the least—if she weren’t living under his roof. As his grandmother’s companion, Beth is all too concerned with the moody and compelling duke. Incensed by his plans to banish the sweet dowager duchess to the country, Beth refuses to do his bidding. If Alex wants her help, he’s going to have to take her dare…and grant her three wishes.

Alex adores his grandmother, which is precisely why she must leave. A string of unfortunate incidents has him worried for the safety of everyone around him—including the dowager’s loyal and lovely companion, Beth. But the notorious wallflower isn’t as meek as she appears, and as their battle of wills heats up, so does Alex’s desire. He’s dangerously close to falling in love with her…and revealing secrets he’d rather keep hidden. How can he convince her that his darkest days are behind him—and that, for the first time in forever, his heart is true?

  1. Katie Lynn says:

All Played Out by Cora Carmack is $1.99 at Amazon. It’s a kindle monthly deal, I believe, so the price will likely get price matched. NA with a football hero who helps the heroine with a college bucket list. The other books in the series are under $2.99, I believe.

Anne of Green Gables is also free on kindle, and it looks like the other books are super cheap. I never read these as a kid, so I picked it up.

  2. Katie Lynn says:

Worth a The Fall by Claudia Connor is $1.99 at Amazon. This book gets recommended here quite a bit, for having an interesting setup and well written children.

  3. Bunnifur says:

Spellbinder, Thea Harrison’s 2nd book in the Moonshadow series, is $1.99 at Amazon. I’ve read (well, listened to on Audible) both, and enjoyed them. The 3rd book is out in a couple weeks.

  4. JenM says:

I loved Moonshadow and immediately grabbed Spellbinder last night. I was a big fan of Thea’s original Elder Races series also (this is a spinoff trilogy). What I loved about Moonshadow is the heroine Sophie. She’s strong, capable, knows how to shoot a gun (she’s a police consultant), and when Nikolas, the hero, tries to get her to stay out of danger, she basically laughs at him trying to manage her, goes forth and saves the day. Nik isn’t an alpha-hole, but he is very old and comes from a time when men did all the fighting, plus he’s been at war for several hundred years, so he isn’t used to modern women. Nonetheless, once he gets used to it, he loves and admires how capable Sophie is. I highly recommend the book (and all of the other Elder Races books) for anyone who likes strong heroines.

  5. Susan says:

Yikes, that Spellbinder book needs to be a cover snark entrant (if it hasn’t already)!

  6. cbackson says:

Wonder if Thea Harrison is a Dorothy Dunnett fan given that name.

  7. Darlynne says:

THE BOOK OF M by Peng Shepherd is on sale today at Amazon for $1.99. Highly recommended supernatural dystopian fiction, possibly an elephant with magical powers.

  8. Bec says:

I love Marina Adair’s books, a great price at 99c, and excellent via audible if you upgrade from there.

  9. Susan says:

@Deborah: Thanks! I should have known the Bitchery would have been on the job with that one!

  10. PamG says:

Regarding Autumn in the Vineyard: This cover kind of creeps me out, probably because the first thing I thought of was The Fault in our Stars. The second thing was that these two already look dead.
