This HaBO request is from Sooz, who is looking for a contemporary romance:
I’m looking for a second chance romance book that was part of a firefighter series. I only read the blurb of the book on Goodreads but here’s what I remember.
The hero is the chief of his firefighter squad and loves the danger of his job too much, leading to him either getting divorced or separated from the heroine and she moves away with their two sons. Few years later, the heroine realizes she’s really sick (maybe cancer?) and tries to “reconcile” with the hero so that he’ll take care of the kids after she potentially dies.
I also remember this book was the fourth and last book of that firefighter series.
Sound familiar to anyone?
Shannon Stacey had a fire fighter series set in Boston. I gave up on it after a couple books, tho, so idk if it’s relevant.
He’s not already taking care of the kids?!?!
That vaguely sounds like Kathryn Shay (she’s written several firefighter series), but the details aren’t lining up with any of the specific books that I have read.
It’s not Shannon Stacey. I’ve read the original 3, and the description doesn’t match the new ones coming out.
Quickly looked through this list of firefighter romance heroes and wow – there are a lot of firefighter romances and so many of them have terrible covers. So. Terrible. So bad that they’re kind of good.

@Cleo, can we talk about #4, “Sleeping with Santa”? Is Santa fetish a thing I didn’t know about?
Is it possibly “Between Now and Forever” by Barbara Freethy?
Jennifer Bernard writes a firefighter series. It could be one of those, but I think there are more than just 4.
Batman – You do now. Does that make your world better or worse?
