The Unleashing
RECOMMENDED: The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston is $1.99! Sarah squeed about this so hard at a previous RT and she really loves the entire series. And she did a little drive by squee during a review for the second book, The Undoing:
Feared Viking blacksmith (of sorts) in the Raven clan has a massive crush on a former Marine who is reborn as a Crow. (Bonus: Ravens giving him shit about his crush, and his ability to admit easily that he really likes her: ALL the thumbs, all of them up.)
WINGING IT
Kera Watson never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn’t for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help, nobody would even see her die.
In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig “Vig” Rundstöm has never seen anyone kick ass with quite as much style as Kera. He knows one way to save her life—but she might not like it. Signing up with the Crows will get Kera a new set of battle buddies: cackling, gossiping, squabbling, party-hearty women. With wings. So not the Marines.
But Vig can’t give up on someone as special as Kera. With a storm of oh-crap magic speeding straight for L.A., survival will depend on combining their strengths: Kera’s discipline, Vig’s loyalty… and the Crows’ sheer love of battle. Boy, are they in trouble.

Instant Attraction
RECOMMENDED: Instant Attraction by Jill Shalvis is $1.99! Sarah has recommended this book countless times:
I love the heroine, the hero, the setting, the snowboarding – this is one of those books where, if you ask me about it, my eyes roll back in my head and I make zombie-esque Good Book Noise®.
Get Wild… And Then Get Wilder…
Accountant Katie Kramer is a quintessential good girl—working hard, recycling diligently, all the while trying to ignore the feeling that she doesn’t fit in anywhere. That’s all she wants. Well, that—and amazing sex, and the kind of daredevil escapade she can look back on when she’s crunching numbers in a dusty cubicle. Which explains why she just took a job in Wishful, California, working for Wilder Adventures and Expeditions. Waking up to find a magnificently built stranger towering over her bed—that part defies explanation…
After wandering the planet for months following a life-changing accident, Cameron Wilder has come back to the only home he knows. Under other circumstances, he might be thrilled to find a gorgeous woman sleeping in his cabin, but now, while he’ll risk his body taking clients on adrenaline-drenched excursions, his heart is off limits. Still, Katie’s killer smile triggers something deep in his gut… among other places. Showing her how exhilarating it can be to stop balancing her life as if it was a checkbook is the biggest rush he’s ever felt—and an adventure Katie’s wishing would never end.

Illuminae
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff is $1.99! This book has been recommended by a couple readers in the comments around the site. It’s about a couple who breaks up before the planet is destroyed. The entire book is told, epistolary-style, through texts, emails, and other documents. Some people found the epistolary format rather annoying, while others highly recommend it on audiobook. Have you read it?
This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.
This afternoon, her planet was invaded.
The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.
But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it’s clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.
Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

The Falconer
The Falconer by Elizabeth May is 99c at Amazon! This is YA with a historical/steampunk bent. There also seem to be faeries. This is the first book in a trilogy and readers warn that there is a cliffhanger. The heroine was a high point for many readers, though some warn of a love triangle. So there’s some catnip in there and some repellant as well.
One girl’s nightmare is this girl’s faery tale
She’s a stunner.
Edinburgh, 1844. Eighteen-year-old Lady Aileana Kameron, the only daughter of the Marquess of Douglas, has everything a girl could dream of: brains, charm, wealth, a title—and drop-dead beauty. She’s a liar.
But Aileana only looks the part of an aristocratic young lady. she’s leading a double life: She has a rare ability to sense the sìthíchean—the faery race obsessed with slaughtering humans—and, with the aid of a mysterious mentor, has spent the year since her mother died learning how to kill them. She’s a murderer.
Now Aileana is dedicated to slaying the fae before they take innocent lives. With her knack for inventing ingenious tools and weapons—from flying machines to detonators to lightning pistols—ruthless Aileana has one goal: Destroy the faery who destroyed her mother. She’s a Falconer.
The last in a line of female warriors born with a gift for hunting and killing the fae, Aileana is the sole hope of preventing a powerful faery population from massacring all of humanity. Suddenly, her quest is a lot more complicated. She still longs to avenge her mother’s murder—but she’ll have to save the world first. The first volume of a trilogy from an exciting new voice in young adult fantasy, this electrifying thriller combines romance and action, steampunk technology and Scottish lore in a deliciously addictive read.

Alisha Rai’s HATE TO WANT YOU is $1.99 at Amazon today.
And every time I see ILLUMINAE mentioned, I get that little flutter of excitement knowing OBSIDIO, book three, will be here in March.
Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai is $1.99 at multiple sellers.
Dagnabbit, I typed too slow!
@Ren Benton: Only this once. 🙂
Also, FORTUNE’S PAWN, Rachel Bach’s Paradox 1 Book, is on sale for $1.99. So far, 2018 is ok.
A Lady’s Code of Misconduct by Meredith Duran is also on sale for $1.99 at Amazon.
I LOVE the falconer trilogy. The heroine is incredible and pretty much all the supporting characters are awesome, too. FWIW, love triangle is only present in the 1st book and each book in the series gets better and better. Definitely comfort reads for me.
Lamb by Christopher Moore (legit one of the funniest books ever), and Cocaine Blues by Kerry Greenwood (the first Phryne Fisher book) are both on sale at Amazon for $1.99!
I absolutely love Illuminae and highly recommend it, but I strongly, strongly suspect it will not present well in ebook. Especially the very detailed ASCII pics that take up 2 book pages in paper-I have no idea how this would translate into ebook (especially small screens like a phone). So, word of caution there.
@Jennifer: I read the first two books in paper from the library, then listened to them and finally bought the digital editions. I can’t disagree with your warning about how the pages translate; visually, verbally, they are not the same. Still worth it, for me, to be able to immerse myself again in that world whenever I want.
I scooped up The Unleashing with alacrity. More blacksmith heroes for everyone! Blacksmith heroes for world peace!
Last time an Illuminae deal was posted here, my wallet was safe, because that sale was USA only.
But even with the same reservations as Jennifer (I specifically asked about the ebook layout), I caved for two bucks, LOL.
