  • Duke of Sin

Duke of Sin by Elizabeth Hoyt

RECOMMENDED: Duke of Sin by Elizabeth Hoyt is $2.99! Those looking to continue their Maiden Lane series reading (this is the 10th book in the series and features a hero many have waiting for) should snag this sale! Elyse gave this book an A:

If you love a hero with an ulterior motive, a man who is capable of doing dark and monstrous things to achieve his version of justice, then you’re going to love Duke of Sin.

    A MAN OF SIN

Devastatingly handsome. Vain. Unscrupulous. Valentine Napier, the Duke of Montgomery, is the man London whispers about in boudoirs and back alleys. A notorious rake and blackmailer, Montgomery has returned from exile, intent on seeking revenge on those who have wronged him. But what he finds in his own bedroom may lay waste to all his plans.

    A WOMAN OF HONOR

Born a bastard, housekeeper Bridget Crumb is clever, bold, and fiercely loyal. When her aristocratic mother becomes the target of extortion, Bridget joins the Duke of Montgomery’s household to search for the incriminating evidence-and uncovers something far more dangerous.

A SECRET THAT THREATENS TO DESTROY THEM BOTH

Astonished by the deceptively prim-and surprisingly witty-domestic spy in his chambers, Montgomery is intrigued. And try as she might, Bridget can’t resist the slyly charming duke. Now as the two begin their treacherous game of cat and mouse, they soon realize that they both have secrets-and neither may be as nefarious-or as innocent-as they appear . . .

  • Sweet Little Lies

Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis

Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis is $1.99! This is the first book in the Heartbreaker Bay series, and readers say this is your typical sweet and funny contemporary romance that they’ve come to know and love from Shalvis. However, others think the heroine had a bit of a martyr complex. Have you read this one?

Choose the one guy you can’t have . . .

As captain of a San Francisco Bay tour boat, Pru can handle rough seas—the hard part is life on dry land. Pru loves her new apartment and her neighbors; problem is, she’s in danger of stumbling into love with Mr. Right for Anybody But Her.

    Fall for him—hard . . .

Pub owner Finn O’Riley is six-foot-plus of hard-working hottie who always makes time for his friends. When Pru becomes one of them, she discovers how amazing it feels to be on the receiving end of that deep green gaze. But when a freak accident involving darts (don’t ask) leads to shirtless first aid, things rush way past the friend zone. Fast.

  • Queen Sugar

    Queen Sugar by Natalie Baszile

Queen Sugar by Natalie Baszile is $1.99! Redheadedgirl and Mikki Kendall both talked about loving the TV adaptation, so if you want to give the book a shot, it’s at a great price. Some felt the pace was slow with a rushed ending, while others loved the family drama aspect of the plot. Is anyone else enjoying the series?

A mother-daughter story of reinvention—about an African American woman who unexpectedly inherits a sugarcane farm in Louisiana

When Charley unexpectedly inherits eight hundred acres of sugarcane land, she and her eleven-year-old daughter say goodbye to smoggy Los Angeles and head to Louisiana. She soon learns, however, that cane farming is always going to be a white man’s business. As the sweltering summer unfolds, Charley struggles to balance the overwhelming challenges of a farm in decline with the demands of family and the startling desires of her own heart.

  • Winning It All

Winning It All by Victoria Denault

Winning It All by Victoria Denault is $1.99! This is book four in the Hometown Players series, which features hockey playing heroes. This particular book also has a one night stand plot. Readers loved the beginning of the romance and thought it had a great setup, but others felt the heroine was too indecisive at times. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

All’s fair in love and hockey. . .

As his team’s enforcer on the ice, Sebastian Deveau is America’s favorite fighting Frenchman. But he’s just as likely to get into trouble off the ice–especially when it comes to women.

Shayne Beckford is so over hockey. It ruined her parents’ marriage. It spoiled her brother’s dreams. And let’s not even talk about her college boyfriend . . . So when Sebastian Deveau walks into her brother’s gym, she has no idea who he is. All she knows is that he’s one gorgeous man with the sexiest accent she’s ever heard. And since she never has to see him again, she lets him give her the best orgasm of her life right on top of the gym’s dryer.

But Sebastian isn’t going to let this one-night stand get away so easily. He fights for what he wants, even if it takes fighting a little dirty . . .

Well what a holiday pleasure, to get another Shalvis book on sale. 🙂

I’m trying to figure out the cover of Sweet Little Lies. What is that on her head? Is that supposed to be his shirt? A pillow case? Her nun’s habit? It annoys me more than it should.

  3. Meg says:

@L.: I think it might be a towel?

I believe it’s *his* shirt, which she just pulled off and is about, for some reason, to lift it fully over her head and drop behind her. Maybe someone who’s read the book can confirm or deny if such a scene takes place in the book.

  5. Lizzy says:

I love Elizabeth Hoyt’s Maiden Lane series but I really couldn’t get on board with Duke of Sin. The hero was an abusive psychopath, and I mean that literally. He had an exceedingly abusive childhood, which explained his amoral behavior but as far as I could tell from the book it caused him to be incapable of feeling empathy for other people, so he used them as pawns- even the people he professed to care about. I don’t buy for a second that he’s not an abuser or that loving the heroine will do anything to stop his manipulation of other people. Just really, really ick for me. That said I’m totally looking forward to the new release!

  6. genie says:

@L: I’m going to say it’s a pillow case and she’s kidnapping him. The “shirtless first aid” mentioned in the blurb was merely a diversionary tactic which is part of her apparently pantsless kidnapping method.

For anyone in the UK, Susanna Kearsley’s The Rose Garden is the Kindle Daily Deal for ÂŁ1.09.

  8. Pamala says:

I concur with the others who say that the Shalvis cover illustrates a case of reverse black bagging. She’s kidnapping him. 🙂
