A Paranormal Historical, a Rom-Com, & More

Books on Sale: Hate Notes by Vi Keeland & More

Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward is 99c at Amazon! Looking at the Goodreads reviews, there’s a lot of division. It’s either one star or a lot of four and five stars, in terms of ratings. Some readers loved how there was more to this book than they though in terms of an emotional arc, while others seemed to hate one or both main characters. Have you read it?

Lit Wicks: Recommended Paranormal Romances

Welcome to Lit Wicks! This is where we pair an author’s backlist with candles to really immerse yourself in the reading experience. All of the candles featured in these post are from Etsy, which means there is often worldwide shipping and that you’re supporting independent crafters and sellers. The Etsy candle rabbit hole is one I have gone down many times. For October, we’re recommending candles for some of our favorite paranormal romances. Paranormal Romances & Two Book Bundles

Books on Sale: The Curse of Lord Stanstead by Mia Marlowe & More

RECOMMENDED: The Curse of Lord Stanstead by Mia Marlowe is 99c at most vendors! This is a historical romance with magic and Elyse gave this book a B+:

The Curse of Lord Stanstead is a good fit for readers who are burned out on straight Regency romances and need a dash of spice, or for paranormal readers who are sick of brooding vampires. If The Order of the Muse series follows the usual formula of the second book being stronger than the first, I will be very happy indeed. I already have The Madness of Lord Westfall downloaded on my ereader, ready to go.

A Recommended Contemporary Fantasy Novel, Plus Historical Romances

Books on Sale: Love is Red by Sophie Jaff & More

RECOMMENDED: Love is Red by Sophie Jaff is $1.99! It’s a crazy mindfuck of a book and I loved it! It defies genre categorization, but I gave it an A:

Hannah Wood, [former] associate editor at Harper, reached out to me about the book. Normally, I’m pretty knowledgeable about books coming out, but this one wasn’t even on my radar. The cover reminds me of a YA novel, which isn’t a genre I read often, and admittedly, I was skeptical. I couldn’t exactly nail down the genre, but that’s really part of the beauty of the book. It’s not just one thing. It’s fantasy. It’s thriller. It’s romance. It’s horror.

And it’s good. Real good.

Books on Sale: It Takes Two to Tangle by Theresa Romain & More

RECOMMENDED: It Takes Two to Tangle by Theresa Romain is 99c! This is the first book in the historical romance Matchmaker TrilogyElyse reviewed this book (Grade: B) and liked the heroine a lot:

If you’re a Regency fan who likes unconventional heroines, pick this book up for sure. If you like the Tragically Wounded Hero, like I do, pick it up. If you need your hero to really have his shit together, you may want to avoid it. Henry gave me heartburn sometimes, but the great conflict, and a kick ass heroine, kept me reading.
