Duke, Actually by Jenny Holiday is $1.99! This is a holiday romance and the second book in the Christmas in Eldovia series. I remember Elyse reading it and commenting in Slack that she was enjoying it. I, sadly, don’t do holiday romances. What about you?

Books on Sale: The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand & More

RECOMMENDED: The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand is $1.99! This is a retelling of A Christmas Carol and Carrie gave it an A-:

I was truly surprised and delighted by how this story ended up. It solved the ethical problems I had with the romance, it was clever, and I worked perfectly with everything that led up to it. I will be adding this to my holiday book box to read again next year!

Books on Sale: My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand & More

RECOMMENDED: My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows is $1.99 at Amazon! Carrie’s review for this dropped today and she gave it a B+:

Sometimes a book comes along that is so fun, so unabashedly silly, and so clever that it makes you glad to be alive. Such is the case with My Plain Jane, which re-imagines Jane Eyre in such a bizarre and gleeful fashion that even in the grip of my regularly scheduled holiday depression I was overcome with bliss.

My Plain Jane

Sometimes a book comes along that is so fun, so unabashedly silly, and so clever that it makes you glad to be alive. Such is the case with My Plain Jane, which re-imagines Jane Eyre in such a bizarre and gleeful fashion that even in the grip of my regularly scheduled holiday depression I was overcome with bliss. The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand

The Afterlife of Holly Chase

I enjoyed The Afterlife of Holly Chase very much – but I didn’t love it until the very last page. The end is what earns it a spot on my keeper shelf, and I won’t reveal the end, no, not even in a spoiler tag. You just have to trust me that it’s lovely. Holly Chase is a rich teenager who is a simply horrible person. At the age of seventeen, she is visited by … Continue reading The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand

Books on Sale: The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis & More

RECOMMENDEDThe Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis is $1.99! All the trigger warnings for this book, by the way. However, I absolutely loved this and I gave it an A:

The Female of the Species was a cathartic read. I was often flushed with anger, crying from sadness, or amped up with girl power. It’s a powerful book and one that I’ll be talking about for a long time to come.

YA Fantasy, Plus Elizabeth Hoyt!

Books on Sale: Darling Beast by Elizabeth Hoyt & More

RECOMMENDED: Darling Beast by Elizabeth Hoyt is $2.99! This book seven in the Maiden Lane historical romance series, and hinted at a Beauty & the Beast theme. Elyse and Redheadgirl did a join review of the book and gave it an A-:

Elyse: For me it’s a solid B+. It was a good read, but lacked the Beauty and the Beast storyline I really wanted. Also Plot Moppets. And questionable choices on Apollo’s part.

Oh, there are great sex scenes though!

So…maybe A-?

RHG: The sex scenes were great.  I’d agree with the A-.
