I cannot emphasize enough how hungry this book will make you.
Accidentally Engaged might be my top pick for “don’t read while hungry.” Between our heroine Reena’s bread baking (there’s rye, there’s challah, there’s an ongoing battle with a sourdough starter) and her Indian and East African cooking, I was craving a feast pretty much the whole time I was reading this book.
Forget Met Not by Julie Soto is $2.99! This is a contemporary romance debut and I mentioned this one on a previous Hide Your Wallet. I liked this one! The book does switch between past and current events to show more of the main couple’s previous history, but I understand it could be a jarring format for the reader.
If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), and we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading August 2022 New Releases, Part Two→
RECOMMENDED: A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole is $1.99! We read this for my book club and we all agreed there wasn’t enough blacksmithing and sword-making. Carrie enjoyed this one and gave it an A-:
This is such a solid book – it’s tear-jerking, it’s inspiring, it’s sexy and romantic, it’s interesting (sword history!) and it’s funny. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Lush Money by Angelina M. Lopez is $2.99! This one has a new cover and let me rant for a second. I hate when new covers result in new ISBNs because that then results in a whole lot of broken links that I have to fix. /endrant. ANYWAY! I gave this one a B-:
The angst is high. The sex is hot. It should be high on your TBR pile if you’re in the mood for an emotional rollercoaster with flipped tropes.
Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev is $1.99! This is book two in Dev’s Austen retellings. Catherine read this and gave it a C. She liked a lot of the food elements and Ashna, especially. However, she warns this book packs in a lot of angst.

RECOMMENDED: Soulless by Gail Carriger is $2.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! This is the first book by the Parasol Protectorate series and for many readers, this book ignited their love for Carriger’s writing. I loved the first book, especially the heroine, but I agree with other reviewers in that there’s a lot of different things going on that conflict with one another.

The Wolf at the Door by Charlie Adhara is $1.99 at Amazon! This is a m/m paranormal romance and was recommended by Aarya in our Underrated Authors & Romances Rec League. Though this one wasn’t Aarya’s favorite in the series, she still really liked this one.
Melting the Ice by Jaci Burton is $1.99! This is book seven in the Play-by-Play series and though it’s been a while since I’ve read this one, I think it’s fine as a standalone. I have a soft spot for this series as I devoured it rather quickly in my early 20s. The lovely team at Berkley even turned this cover into a poster for me. It hangs over my bed.
