The Emma Project by Sonali Dev is $3.99! This is the last in Dev’s Austen-inspired Rajes series and is an Emma retelling. Sonali was also just on the podcast and as always, is such a blast to talk to.
RECOMMENDED: Playing House by Ruby Lang is $2.99! The entire series is price as $2.99, so I’m unsure if this is actually a sale or normal price. Aarya gave it a B:
It’s a must-read for the summer if you’re looking for an adorable, empathetic, and joyful romance.
I encourage you to pick up Playing House to transport you into another world for a few hours. It might be the escape you desperately need; it certainly was for me.

If you like time travel or gothic romance I think there’s a lot to like here. However, gothic romance fans should note that romance itself is fairly sweet and light and the gothic elements are more embedded in the various ghost and murder subplots.
More or Less a Marchioness by Anna Bradley is 99c! This is the first book in the Somerset Sisters series and came out just last month. Readers warn that it does take a while for the hero and heroine to finally interact, but once they do, it’s a pretty lovely romance.
I picked this ARC up for the title, which delighted me, and for the setting, which centres around a charity school for Wayward Girls in Georgian England that is in fact a secret training ground for young women on a mission to bring justice to corrupt aristocrats. Seriously, if you love science and experiments and science nerdery, you’ll probably really like this book. Much of the story is about Kaya’s journey from accepting herself to appreciating herself, and her growth from keeping a massive distance between her thoughts and her emotions to learning how to relate them to one another, and to take the risks involved in engaging with other people.
For the Sake of a Scottish Rake by Anna Bradley is $1.99! This is a historical romance that released in February. It also seems full of catnip with a friends to lovers fake relationship. It sounds really fun, but I know myself and friends to lovers isn’t my bag.
The Widows of Malabar Hill by Sujata Massey is $1.99! It’s a Kindle Daily Deal today, and the deals feature some romances as well. This is a mystery set in 1920s Bombay. Carrie read this one and gave it a B:
It’s not a romance. Romance does not go well for the main characters. However, it’s a very good female-centered historical mystery.
