RECOMMENDED: The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare is $1.99! This is the first book in the Girl Meets Duke series. Elyse really loved this book and gave it an A grade:
I totally recommend reading The Duchess Deal, but preferably while sober so you can really appreciate all of it. It’s the perfect blend of two of my favorite fairytale tropes, it’s got a hero who never an alpha-hole, it’s funny, and it’s got female friendship. What more could you want?
Infamous by Lex Croucher is $2.99! This is a sapphic Regency romance and was mentioned on Hide Your Wallet and Book Beat. Both Shana and Tara were really looking forward to this one.
An Unconditional Freedom by Alyssa Cole is $1.99! This is the third book in Cole’s The Loyal League series, and came out this February. Reviews on Goodreads seem divided on whether this one was the best in the series, or didn’t live up to the first two. If you’ve read it, what do you think?
Yinka, Where is Your Huzband? by Lizzie Damilola Blackburn is $1.99! I mentioned this on a previous Get Rec’d. It’s a funny, women’s fiction and I’ve been using it as a gateway recommendation to get people closer and closer to reading romance.
A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole is $1.99! This is the first book in her Reluctant Royals series and this seems to be a series that just keeps getting better with its books. Many readers loved how Alyssa writes consent, agency, and all sorts of other awesome and empowering things. However, some warn that this book takes several chapters to get into the swing of things.
RECOMMENDED: Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! Shana reviewed this one in October and gave it a B+:
Spoiler Alert is tropey wish fulfillment, but at its heart, it is a quiet contemporary with a #couplegoals relationship where both characters offer comfort, create beautiful art, and help each other overcome insecurities. Spoiler Alert is also a love letter to fandoms, that will make you want to chase your romance novel with a shot of fanfiction.
RECOMMENDED: Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie is $2.99! Ellen read this one and gave it a B+:
I think it has elements to satisfy a wide reading audience: a sizzling slow-burn romance between people with actual significant obstacles to their relationship, a sweeping and epic plot about the rise and fall of empires, gut-wrenching internal character conflict, and wacky space hijinks.
Song of the Forever Rains by E.J. Mellow is $2.49! This one was published by Amazon, so it’s only available there. On Goodreads, there does seem to be some confusion on whether this falls into adult romance or young adult. Others say it splits the different at new adult.
American Royalty by Tracey Livesay is $2.99! This is a contemporary romance with a royal hero and famous singer heroine. I personally love the cover, but I know on Cover Awe, some felt it had “uncanny valley” vibes.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: An Extraordinary Union by Alyssa Cole is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! Sarah completely loved it:
First, yes, you should absolutely read this book immediately, if you haven’t already. There is so much happening in the conflict within each of the protagonists, between the protagonists, and around them and their allies and enemies, I can’t possibly discuss all of it, but please know: if you are a reader (and why else would you be here, right?) this book is a marvelous, intelligent, respectful, breathtaking treat for your brain.
The Friendship Pact by Jill Shalvis is $1.99! This is book two in the Sunrise Cove series. It seems like women’s fiction with a romantic subplot, though correct me if I’m wrong.
