The Bad Luck Bride
The Bad Luck Bride by Janna MacGregor is $2.99! Sarah had the author on as part of a previous live podcast taping at RT and I found it fascinating. Some readers expressed confusion in how the overall plot unfolded, but others really loved the heroine and her cursed luck.
All were shocked at the announcement of the “cursed” Lady Claire Cavensham to Lord Alexander Hallworth, the Marquess of Pembrooke, especially since she is already engaged to another unfortunate Lord. Perhaps she will make it to the altar this time with one of these fine gentlemen! Could her run of bad luck finally be at an end? It’s highly doubtful in this writer’s humble opinion. —Midnight Cryer
No one is left breathless at the imperious pronouncement of her engagement to Lord Pembrooke more than Claire. She hardly knows the dangerously outrageous man! But after three engagements gone awry and a fourth going up in glorious flames, she isn’t in a position to refuse…especially once she realizes that Lord Pembrooke makes her want to believe she’s not a bad luck bride anymore…
Alexander requires the hand of his enemy’s fiancée in marriage in order to complete his plans for revenge. It’s his good fortune that the “cursed” woman is desperate. However, what begins as a sham turns into something scandalously deeper. The beguiling lady has no business laying claim to his heart. But as a mission of revenge turns into fiery passion, Alexander wants nothing more than to break Claire’s curse…and lead them both to their hearts’ desire.

Willa Lieu-Endicott moved from California to the Pacific Northwest to start over. Since her husband’s death, she’s been struggling to get back her old career as a cookbook ghostwriter. Unfortunately, her latest project—ghostwriting for a viral cooking sensation known more for his washboard abs than his meals—has her stuck.
Until she meets her new neighbor.
Hudson Daws, the handyman next door, lives on a farm with his parents and two adult children. He’s the opposite of everything she’s ever known. His happily chaotic life includes biker barbecues, an escape artist dog, and adorably menacing goats. He’s also got a sinfully sexy smile and a rumbling bass voice that makes her shiver. He inspires her.
From their first meeting, the two fall into an escalating cycle of favors, paybacks…and attraction, even though Willa’s trying to keep her distance.
They both have their own pasts to deal with. Now, they just have to figure out if they have a future.
A delectable rom-com about a widowed cookbook writer and a divorced handyman who find that it’s never too late for a fresh start.

Discretion
Discretion by Karina Halle is $1.99 at Amazon! This is the first book in The Dumonts series. Halle writes a lot of rags to riches romance, if that’s your catnip, but it also has a lot of billionaire heroes.
From New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle comes a delicious saga of wealth, luxury, and scandal—and the wicked secrets of success behind an envied family dynasty.
The Riviera means indulgence—if you’ve got money. For Sadie Reynolds, a down-on-her-luck student, the Riviera means dingy hostels and back streets. When a wrong turn puts her in jeopardy, the last thing she expects is to be saved by the most handsome stranger she’s ever locked eyes with. When she later wakes up in a luxury suite with a Mediterranean view, she’s in the tender care of her rescuer: Olivier Dumont, France’s most eligible bachelor, billionaire hotelier, and heir to the Dumont fashion fortune.
Olivier also owns his reputation for scandal. But Sadie is unlike any woman he’s ever met. Her humble persona and wild innocence promise real passion. He’s promising Sadie something too: anything she wants. From Bordeaux to Cannes to Paris, Sadie’s past in America is swept away and replaced with a fantasy too good to be true.
Pulled into Olivier’s orbit of wealth, glamour, and excess, Sadie discovers that the Dumont dynasty comes with a legacy of wicked secrets. And Olivier’s secrets may be the most damning of all…

First link I click, purchased in 2017. Oops. Well, I don’t remember it, so off to read a new to me book I already own.
In books I do own and remember, the Cathy Yardley is good, both MC have to grow/move past each of their histories to be able to be partners.
And the last book, this sentence gives me the ick “Her humble persona and wild innocence promise real passion. ” oh good, a life experience gap to exploit, and also what on earth is wild innocence, is she feral?

I checked several of my amazon lists and found several books on them at 0.00 🙂
@JoanneBB that was also the dealbreaker for me, although admittedly I was not wildly tempted at any point prior. If her secret is that she’s a con artist who is going to bilk this family for all they have in order to set up reparations – and he goes to prison for the child porn I am quite certain he possesses – I am willing to suspect my disbelief and accept that the book as described could have a happy ending. I don’t see any signs of it being a romance though.
@JoanneBB & kkw – I think I’d rather read your version.
