You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!
This HaBO is from Brittani, who wants to find this collection of short stories:
I read this when I was in high school (like 2004-2008). It’s a spicy series of short stories by female authors that all included an antique bed. They all took place in different eras.
I remember one story involved a knight coming home after war to his “wife” who planned to kill him. Instead. they fell in love. The last one was set in contemporary times and I want to say the main male charter in that one was British and the female character was an antiques dealer of some sort. The cover art was of sheets on an antique bed, I believe.
Can we HaBO?

Once Upon a Pillow (2002)
Christina Dodd & Connie Brockway
Finally… after all these years, I knew it AND read the HABO early enough to respond!… I’m a little verklempt right now.
Once Upon a Pillow by Christina Dodd https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1401344.Once_Upon_a_Pillow
I think this is the one you’re looking for.
More info: It doesn’t seem to be in ebook format as an anthology as it is in paperback (& a hardback book club version). The individual stories are:
FIRST KNIGHT by Connie Brockway $0.99
KIDNAPPED by Christina Dodd $2.99
HER CAPTIVE: by Connie Brockway $2.99
LAST NIGHT by Christina Dodd $2.99
and ARE in ebook format individually (bn.com prices listed).
@Brittani- if you don’t absolutely need to read it right this minute, there are plenty of much less expensive used copies available.online.
Whichever you choose, I hope you enjoy the re-reading.
YAY!! Bc I was totally intrigued.
Hah, I know this one! It’s definitely Once Upon a Pillow.
This anthology was in my comfort re-read rotation for many years, especially the first two stories.
@Brittani – I just pulled out my old paperback and re-read the first 2 stories.
There is a framestory tying all 4 stories together – a manor house in Cornwall has just been sold and the MC of the 4th story is giving her final tour of the manor house, including the stunning medieval bed. There’s a little bit between each story. It might be worth it try to get a used copy of the paperback for the interconnecting sections, although I think that the 4 stories work fine as stand alones.
My favorite story is the first one – a knight (unexpectedly) returns home to the woman he married by proxy. She does consider killing him but he wins her over.
Omg ty so much! Solved
