This HaBO comes from Jacqueline, who is looking for a darker contemporary or possibly romantic suspense:
Been trying to find this one after I deleted it from my kindle; it’s long gone.
Couple meets when her father (abusive murderer) married his mother (sweet wealthy lady who dies sometime later, I wonder how…). They date in college but he gets put in jail I think (?) by evil (step)father of heroine.
Hero ends up taking back family business and winning back heroine, book ends with them opening a mechanic shop (going for the quiet lifestyle this time around) and eating macaroni and cheese on the couch.
Well that’s a sweet ending!
This isn’t True North by Sarina Bowen, but it’s close enough that you’d probably really enjoy it, too.
@Wonder Woman: Sarina Bowen’s True North is a series, not a specific book. Which one do you think matches the HABO description? I think I’ve read all of the True North books and I don’t recall any that fit what is described here.
Steadfast, maybe? It’s the one where the hero is an ex-con.
I’ve read them too, and I wouldn’t have picked it as a match.
I feel like eating mac & cheese on the sofa is how every good romance should end.
Is a it a coincidence that I just got an alert from Panera about today being National Mac & Cheese day?
I’m kinda perturbed by the nagging feeling that I read this one. I have no idea when or what it was called, though. Sorry!
♀️ Yes, I meant Steadfast by Sarina Bowen. This is what happens when I try to HaBO first thing in the morning…
