This HaBO request is from Maria, who is looking for this time travel romance:
The hero is a man who lost his memory and was adopted by a nobleman. He never recovered his memory and now works for the English Crown, catching French spies during the Napoleonic Wars. The heroine was founded almost drowned on the beach of the same nobleman who adopted the hero, and the nobleman helps her. The hero suspects the heroine could be a spy for Napoleon. At the end, the hero discovered that he has travelled in time like heroine.
The hero gives his name as James Bond, because it’s the only thing he remembers from his time.
Who knows this one? I feel like we had a “James Bond” HaBO previously.
It’s been ages since I read them but is it one of the Lauren Willig Pink Carnation books?
What about What Would Jane Austen Do? by Laurie Brown? Your summary sounds familiar and this is the only time travel I can think of that I’ve read. He’s Lord Shermont, I think, and she’s a costume designer at an Austen conference who gets sent back in time.
@Morgan: The Willig books have current and historical storylines, but they don’t interact–so no actual time traveling.
I really hope someone comes up with this book!
I know I read a book with a time traveling heroine who washed up on a beach and the hero thinks she’s a spy. But he was not a time traveler. Wish I could remember anything else about it!
I’m with Sara- I swear I’ve read this book. But either I’m wrong or I haven’t shelved it correctly because it’s not on my time travelling shelf. UGH!
