One Night with the Laird
One Night with the Laird by Nicola Cornick is $1.99! The hero and heroine have had relations in the past and now the heroine needs the hero’s help, so there’s a second chance element. Readers say the sexytimes have a hint of BDSM to them (restraints), but that the villain was rather obvious.
A wicked attraction!
Fashionable society widow Lady Mairi MacLeod cannot understand the dark passion that binds her to Jack Rutherford. He is everything she dislikes in a man, rakish, arrogant and charming, and she would prefer to forget the night of wicked passion that she spent in his arms.
But when Mairi is threatened by a blackmailer, Jack is the only man who can protect her. As they work together to uncover where the danger lies, their passion reignites. Little by little, the masks they wear burn away, and their most private secrets come to light…

Melting Into You
Melting Into You by Tracey Alvarez is $2.99! This is the second book in the Stewart Island series and is set in New Zealand. The first book in the series is currently free! Readers enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters, but others found that they struggled to get into the book. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
Big, sexy men who don’t relate well to kids need not apply…
Kezia Murphy plays her widow card well. When you don’t trust people not to let you down, it’s easier to not get involved—and getting involved with a man who makes her skin sizzle just by looking at him would be una pazzia—crazy! Four years ago while Kezia’s daughter, Zoe, battled leukaemia, a tragic accident stole her husband’s life. Starting over in the little town of Oban where she’s adopted into the close knit community on Stewart Island, Kezia and her daughter are all the family the other needs. Except Zoe yearns for more.
New Zealand’s worst candidate for instant fatherhood…
Ben doesn’t do gooey emotional stuff. He doesn’t do cosy home and family. And he sure isn’t the big teddy-bear Kezia Murphy, the woman he secretly fantasises about, thinks he is. So when Jade, his surprise eight-year-old daughter arrives on his doorstep, he’s a D-minus student struggling to pass a crash-course in parenting.
They’ll either melt or raze their lives to the ground…
When the sparks of attraction between Kezia and Ben fan into an inferno, Ben doesn’t know how much longer the layers of resistance around his heart can resist melting into the gooey mess he fears. The more he fights it the harder it is to make the choice that will destroy the family he now longs to claim.

The Asset
The Asset by Anna del Mar is $1.99! This is the first book in the Wounded Warrior series. Several reviewers warn that there’s some serious, triggering material, mainly in the characters’ backstories. But others say as del Mar’s debut romance, it’s a great read. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.
Anna del Mar’s explosive, sexy debut novel in the Wounded Warrior series, perfect for fans of Lisa Marie Rice and Lora Leigh—the story of a woman desperate to escape her dangerous past and the navy SEAL who would lay down his life to save her.
Ash Hunter knows what it is to run. A SEAL gravely injured in Afghanistan, he’s gone AWOL from the military hospital. Physically and mentally scarred, he returns home to his grandmother’s isolated cottage—and finds a beautiful, haunted stranger inside.
Like recognizes like.

Soon, Ash realizes he’s not the only one tormented by the past. Pushing the limits of his broken body, testing the boundaries of her shattered soul, he’ll protect Lia until his last breath.

No Ordinary Duke
No Ordinary Duke by Sophie Barnes is 99c! This historical romance features a duke in hiding and is the first in a series. Readers were really surprised by this one and the typical departure from a “rake” hero. However, others warn of some uneven pacing.
He’s everything she’s trying to avoid…But somehow precisely what she needs…
Caleb Crawford doesn’t want to be a duke. He’d much rather build houses for a living. So when fate disrupts his peaceful life and burdens him with the responsibilities of a newly inherited title, he does what any sensible man would do by fleeing London, disguising himself as a laborer, and seeking refuge with three young spinsters who need his help with a leaky roof.
Ruined by a marquess who promised her the world, Mary Clemens has sworn to avoid marriage forever. Instead, she intends to live out her days with her friends and the orphaned children they’ve taken into their care. But when Mr. Crawford comes knocking, Mary finds herself in real danger of risking heartbreak all over again. Especially when she discovers that he’s not at all what he seems.

BLOODY ROSE by Nicholas Eames is $2.99 everywhere. If you like RPGs (Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy, etc.), these books are a lot of fun. (They’re NOT “litRPG,” which are self-conscious game stories for people who believe assigning skill points is peak entertainment. These are purely STORIES that will be comfortably tropey for RPG fans.) It’s a Book 2, but it takes place 6(?) years after KINGS OF THE WYLD and the main character had nothing to do with those events, so it’s not a direct continuation of one story. Will you get more out of it if you read KotW first? Sure. Is it absolutely necessary? I’d say not. And no cliffhanger with either book, so though I want more stories, there’s no sense of incompleteness as they stand now.
@Ren Benton: I just came here to post the same thing. So glad you beat me to it.
Also, Carrie Vaughn’s BANNERLESS is on sale for $2.99 at Amazon, haven’t checked other retailers. This is the first in a new dystopian series, I haven’t read it, but I’ve enjoyed everything else of hers.
Finally, MURDER IN HINDSIGHT by Anne Cleeland, the 3rd in her Scotland Yard series, is on sale for $1.99.
I remember really enjoying that Nicola Cornick book. It’s definitely worth the $1.99.
