From Duke Till Dawn
From Duke Till Dawn by Eva Leigh is $1.99! This is the first book in The London Underground series and featured a heroine who previously had conned the hero. Many really liked the heroine and how smart and resourceful she was. However, others wished the hero and heroine had more dynamic interactions.
Eva Leigh launches a seductive new series that sizzles with the dark secrets of London’s underworld…
Years ago, the Duke of Greyland gave his heart—and a princely sum of money—to a charming, destitute widow with unparalleled beauty. After one passionate night, she slipped from his bed and vanished without a trace. And just when he’s given up hope of ever seeing her again, Greyland finds her managing a gaming hell. He’s desperate to have her… until he discovers everything about his long-lost lover was a lie.
In truth, Cassandra Blake grew up on the streets, picking pockets to survive. Greyland was a mark—to be fleeced and forgotten—but her feelings for the duke became all too real. Once he learns of her deception, however, the heat in his eyes turns to ice. When her business partner absconds with the gaming hell proceeds—leaving unsavory investors out for blood—Cassandra must beg the man she betrayed for help.
Greyland wants compensation, too, and he’ll assist her under one condition: she doesn’t leave his sight until her debts are paid. But it’s not long before the real Cassandra—the smart, streetwise criminal—is stealing his heart all over again.

The Rogue and I
The Rogue and I by Eva Devon is 99c at Amazon! This is a second chance romance and the first book in the Must Love Rogues series. The rest of the series is also on sale at the same price. Readers mention that the romance takes some inspiration from Much Ado About Nothing, while others felt it followed the Shakespearean plot a little too closely.
A Lady Ready for Battle
Miss Harriet Manning once made the mistake of falling completely, totally, and irreversibly in love with a duke’s son. It’s a mistake she won’t repeat twice. Truly. Especially since he abandoned her just when they were about to elope to Gretna Green. Five years later, Harriet hasn’t forgotten the way Lord Garret’s smoldering gaze and wicked sense of humor touched her soul. Still, there’s no way she’ll forgive the traitorous libertine, no matter how he stirs her passions. Now, Harriet is determined to show him she doesn’t care, and never did, by making merry right under his nose but a tragic turn of events at her cousin’s wedding has her wondering if just maybe, love deserves one last chance.A Lord Who Lost His Heart
Lord Garret Hart, second son of a duke and now brother to the present Duke of Huntsdown, is never ever EVER getting married. Bachelorhood is for him. After all, women are the very devil. Especially one woman. Miss Harriet Manning is Garret’s own personal Medusa and she has turned his heart to stone. Indeed she has, but not before she absolutely ripped it to shreds, leaving him a complete wreck. Nothing will ever induce him to matrimony or nauseating protestations of boyish love again. But when he is forced into close proximity at his brother’s wedding with the woman who first taught him to dream and see the world as a wondrous place, sparks flash and passions explode. Still, Harriet is not to be trusted. She callously betrayed him once. So how can he ever allow himself another chance at love when love always seems to hurt so much?Add to Goodreads To-Read List →

Darkest Flame
Darkest Flame by Donna Grant is $1.99! This is a paranormal romance with a dragon hero and an MI5 agent heroine. Some readers were a little annoyed at the hero and his Alpha-ness, but others liked the action blended in with the romance. I read the prequel novella anthology and enjoyed those, though oddly my library doesn’t have a physical copy of this one. This is the first book in the Dark Kings series and books two and three are also on sale.
The Dark Kings have fought for centuries to preserve their dragon magic. But one of the most powerful warriors of his kind will be put to the ultimate test. Is he strong enough to resist his greatest temptations? Or will he be forced to surrender—body and soul?
Denae Lacroix is a beautiful MI5 agent on a deadly mission. Sent to the Scottish Highlands to spy on the mysterious Dreagan Industries, she discovers too late that she’s been set up—as human bait. She is an irresistible lure for a man who has not seen or touched a woman for centuries. He is a man with a destiny—and a desire—that could destroy them both…
It’s been twelve hundred years since Kellan has walked among humans—and there’s no denying the erotically charged attraction he feels for Denae. But as a Dragon King, he is sworn to protect his secrets. Yet the closer he gets to this smart, ravishing woman, the more her life is in danger. All it takes is one reckless kiss to unleash a flood of desire, the fury of dragons… and the fiercest enemy of all.

Self-Inflicted Wounds
Self-Inflicted Wounds by Aisha Tyler is 99c! This is a humorous memoir by actress and comedian Aisha Tyler. Readers really loved how Tyler’s voice came through in the writing and definitely assure others that it’s very funny. However, some said the narration is much better than the text.
Comedian, actress, co-host of CBS’s daytime hit The Talk, and creator of the top-ranked podcast Girl on Guy, Aisha Tyler offers a collection of hysterical and unflinchingly personal essays about the spectacular mistakes she has made in her life and what those epic fails have taught her. A fun, revealing and savory read, Self-Inflicted Wounds is about the power of calamity to shape life, learning, and success-as well as a really funny book about a woman’s lifelong collection of wonderfully massive screw ups
On the hit comedy podcast Girl on Guy, comedian and actress Aisha Tyler talks with actors, artists, musicians, athletes and iconoclasts about their path to personal and professional success, in forthcoming and sometimes shocking conversation. The coda of the show is Self-Inflicted Wounds-where Aisha’s guests recount something they’ve done that was ill-conceived, dangerous, or just plain dumb-with hilarious or poignant ends. In her book Self-Inflicted Wounds Aisha turns the lens on herself, recounting spectacularly comedic mistakes and stories of crushing personal humiliation, along with what she’s learned. Riotous, revealing, and wonderfully relatable, Self-Inflicted Wounds showcases a sharp comedic voice on the rise.

I have always had such a crush on Aisha Tyler. *clickity in a totally noncreepy way*
There really are dukes everywhere these days.
There’s a recently published HR where the heroine and her friend play a secret game of “duke, duke, rake” at balls — it made me laugh. Lousy with dukes! 😀
I really enjoyed From Duke Till Dawn as both characters end up having to apologize and change. Also it does a great job of showing other sides of London with glimpses into the criminal underworld and the ending convinced me, which isn’t always easy with the kind of class differences involved. I look forward to reading the others in this series.
@ C.F. what book was that?
Aisha Tyler had a really excellent podcast called “Girl on Guy.” The people she interviewed were very candid. I’ve listened to most of them and I enjoyed them all even the ones with people I don’t normally follow. Two interviews that stood out for me were the ones with Charlize Theron and Viola Davis.

I loved Self-Inflicted Wounds! I laughed till I cried with some of the chapters, and made a coworker read the chapter titles (they’re hilarious). Still one of the best comedic memoirs I’ve read (and that’s a subset I frequent).
@ Varian, I’m so sorry, I can’t remember! May have to HABO it!
