  • Too Hot to Handle

Too Hot to Handle by Tessa Bailey

RECOMMENDED: Too Hot to Handle by Tessa Bailey is $1.99 at most vendors! It’s also $2.99 at Barnes & Noble. I love Bailey’s writing so much. Her dialogue is realistic and fun, and her dirty talk between characters is top notch. I loved the setup of an estranged family’s cross-country road trip. But I will admit the chemistry between the hero and heroine wavered at times.

The first book in a brand new contemporary romance series from New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey!

When Rita Clarkson’s Suburban takes its last breath on a New Mexico roadside, rescue roars up on a Harley in the form of smooth-talking honkey tonk owner, Jasper Ellis, a man as mysterious as he is charming. Rita’s cross-country journey to New York City–with her three estranged siblings in tow–is only beginning, but now that Jasper has found Rita, his plans do not include her leaving.

  • Good Girl

    Good Girl by Lauren Layne

Good Girl by Lauren Layne is 99c at Amazon and Kobo! The heroine is a country singer and the hero is a moody estate owner. I haven’t read this one, but I’ve read other Lauren Layne titles, and she writes such great dialogue. However, some readers thought the romance was missing something. Have you read this one?

Lauren Layne brings all the unpredictable heat of her USA Today bestseller Blurred Lines to an all-new cast of characters! Country music’s favorite good girl is hiding away from the world—only to find herself bunking with a guy who makes her want to be a little bad.

Jenny Dawson moved to Nashville to write music, not get famous. But when her latest record goes double platinum, Jenny’s suddenly one of the town’s biggest stars—and the center of a tabloid scandal connecting her with a pop star she’s barely even met. With paparazzi tracking her every move, Jenny flees to a remote mansion in Louisiana to write her next album. The only hiccup is the unexpected presence of a brooding young caretaker named Noah, whose foul mouth and snap judgments lead to constant bickering—and serious heat.

Noah really should tell Jenny that he’s Preston Noah Maxwell Walcott, the owner of the estate where the feisty country singer has made her spoiled self at home. But the charade gives Noah a much-needed break from his own troubles, and before long, their verbal sparring is indistinguishable from foreplay. But as sizzling nights give way to quiet pillow talk, Noah begins to realize that Jenny’s almost as complicated as he is. To fit into each other’s lives, they’ll need the courage to face their problems together—before the outside world catches up to them.

  • Take Me Deeper

Take Me Deeper by Jackie Ashenden

Take Me Deeper by Jackie Ashenden is 99c! This is the first book in the Texas Bounty series. The heroine is on the run and the hero is a bounty hunter. Some readers said that the first half of the book dragged a bit, but the second half is great. Readers also really liked the hero. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.

Jackie Ashenden’s scintillating series introduces the men of Lone Star Bounty: three badass bounty-hunter brothers who will have readers begging to be caught.

Even as a Green Beret, Zane Redmond hasn’t faced a tougher mission than going home again. Loyalty to his brothers is the only reason he’s back in Texas, not that he intends to stay for long. Zane sure as hell isn’t going into the family business. One last bounty and he’s done—or so he thinks. Nobody warned him that his fugitive happens to be a red-hot brunette with a smart mouth, a body made for sin, and a brutal cartel on her trail.

Bad circumstances and worse choices have left Iris Callahan in a desperate situation. After getting arrested for a drug drop gone wrong, she skipped bail and hit the road to avoid testifying. Now the cartel wants Iris silenced forever, and she’s just lucky that Zane catches her before they do. Handcuffed to a bed, she surrenders to the cool-as-ice bounty hunter in order to survive. But as the chase heats up, Zane sneaks past her emotional defenses—and Iris is in too deep to let him go.

  • Alex

    Alex by Sawyer Bennett

Alex by Sawyer Bennett is 99c! This is a contemporary sports romance with an ice cold, hockey playing hero. I will fully admit that hockey heroes are major catnip for me, so it’s taking everything I have not to throw some money my Kindle’s way. While many reviewers on GoodReads found the characters to be interesting and well-thought out, a few found their attention spans starting to wane halfway through. Any takers?

Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn’t afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn’t so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.

As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people—like Alex, who’s been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team’s effort to clean up his image. What she doesn’t expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn’t one to cross professional boundaries—and besides, Alex doesn’t do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex’s bad-boy façade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

  1. RLG says:

The hockey player seems very upset about his inability to button his pants. Has anyone told him he might have better luck if he goes up a size?

    ;P

  2. Ren Benton says:

I thought it was the not-the-first time he sliced his back open with his skates.

  3. CelineB says:

Unmasking Miss Appleby by Emily Larkin is free on Amazon at least; it got a Desert Isle Keeper review on All About Romance. It’s a paranormal historical romance where the heroine gets the ability to shapeshift from her godmother then decides she’s going to use that ability to make a living as a man. The description on Amazon also says it’s grittier than most romances.

  4. Shana says:

If you’re wavering on buying Alex from Bennett’s Carolina Cold Fury series…don’t. JUST GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.

Seriously. If you like hockey romances, that series is fantastic. I actually paid full price for most of it. And there are TWO books on pre-order!

  5. Jesabele says:

RLG – you made me choke on my coffee. You are awesome and I will never be able to read that book with any seriousness now. Bravo!

  6. Gigi says:

Tessa Bailey is worth every penny. This isn’t my favorite of hers but it’s a strong start to what is a pretty good series so far.

I read the Sawyer Bennett and can’t remember a single thing about it.

One clicking that Jackie Ashenden. Even though I’m not supposed to buy any new books until I make a dent on my TBR pile ::sigh::

  7. Jennifer says:

I have read the Lauren Layne – not her best, but still a good read. I have had mixed success with Jackie Ashenden, but at 99c I couldn’t resist.

  8. CelineB says:

Just saw this on Twitter and I’m not sure how long it’s for, but Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime is free on Audible using this the link in this Goodreads blog post. I canceled the hold I had on it at the library since I’m overloaded with books, but I can listen to audiobooks while I’m cleaning or cooking and it’s free.

Huh, Good Girl is my favorite Lauren Layne. Different strokes and all that…
