  • The Marriage Contract

The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert

RECOMMENDED: The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert is 99c! This is an arranged marriage plot in a modern setting, which I would love to see more of! The book does deal with characters in the mob, which I know is a big off-button for some readers, so FYI. Elyse’s review came out today and she gave it an A:

If you had told me that I’d really love a book about the children of two Boston mob bosses being in an arranged marriage, I’d have raised a skeptical eyebrow. But I’m so so glad that The Marriage Contract proved me wrong because I enjoyed it immensely.

Teague O’Malley hates pretty much everything associated with his family’s name. And when his father orders him to marry Callista Sheridan to create a “business” alliance, Teague’s ready to tell his dad exactly where he can stuff his millions. But then Teague actually meets his new fiancĂ©e, sees the bruises on her neck and the fight still left in her big blue eyes, and vows he will do everything in his power to protect her.

Everyone knows the O’Malleys have a dangerous reputation. But Callie wasn’t aware just what that meant until she saw Teague, the embodiment of lethal grace and coiled power. His slightest touch sizzles through her. But the closer they get, the more trouble they’re in. Because Callie’s keeping a dark secret-and what Teague doesn’t know could get him killed.

  • The Wee Free Men

The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett

The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett is a Kindle Daily Deal for $1.99! We like to feature Pratchett’s books when they’re on sale because his backlist is so huge and eventually, we want to piece together an entire Discworld library. This is book thirty (yes, thirty!) in the Discworld series, but it’s the first book in the Tiffany Aching spinoff.

A nightmarish danger threatens from the other side of reality . . .

Armed with only a frying pan and her common sense, young witch-to-be Tiffany Aching must defend her home against the monsters of Fairyland. Luckily she has some very unusual help: the local Nac Mac Feegle—aka the Wee Free Men—a clan of fierce, sheep-stealing, sword-wielding, six-inch-high blue men.

Together they must face headless horsemen, ferocious grimhounds, terrifying dreams come true, and ultimately the sinister Queen of the Elves herself. . . .

  • Dearest Rogue

    Dearest Rogue by Elizabeth Hoyt

RECOMMENDED: Dearest Rogue by Elizabeth Hoyt is 99c! This is book eight in the Maiden Lane historical romance series and Elyse called it one of the best romances she read in 2015. She also gave it an A grade:

Everything about this book was wonderful. If I had to describe it in one word it would be breathless–from the action, to the UST (unresolved sexual tension), to the you-know-it’s-going-to-be-phenomenal-once-his-reserve-breaks sex, to all of the pent up emotions these characters have.

    HE CAN GUARD HER

Lady Phoebe Batten is pretty, vivacious, and yearning for a social life befitting the sister of a powerful duke. But because she is almost completely blind, her overprotective brother insists that she have an armed bodyguard by her side at all times-the very irritating Captain Trevillion.

    FROM EVERY DANGER

Captain James Trevillion is proud, brooding, and cursed with a leg injury from his service in the King’s dragoons. Yet he can still shoot and ride like the devil, so watching over the distracting Lady Phoebe should be no problem at all-until she’s targeted by kidnappers.

    BUT PASSION ITSELF

Caught in a deadly web of deceit, James must risk life and limb to save his charge from the lowest of cads-one who would force Lady Phoebe into a loveless marriage. But while they’re confined to close quarters for her safekeeping, Phoebe begins to see the tender man beneath the soldier’s hard exterior…and the possibility of a life-and love-she never imagined possible.

  • Total Surrender

    Total Surrender by Rebecca Zanetti

Total Surrender by Rebecca Zanetti is 99c and is the fourth book in her Sin Brothers series! The series is mainly romantic suspense with a few paranormal components thrown in just to spice things up. The book has a lot of four and five star ratings on GoodReads (it has a 4.3 average), though some of the complaints mention the heroine’s rather naive personality. Has anyone read this one?

    A fight he must win . . .

Piper Oliver knows she can’t trust him. They warned her that the tall, dark, and sexy black-ops soldier Jory Dean would try to win her over with his steel-gray eyes and deadly charm, but she won’t be conned by this man they call a traitor. All she has to do is figure out the science necessary to save his life, and she’s done. Something isn’t adding up, though, and she won’t rest until she uncovers the truth-even if it’s buried in his deep, dangerous kiss.

    A passion she can’t resist . . .

Jory will do anything to reunite with and save his brothers-even kidnap the gorgeous woman who’s working to deactivate the deadly chip in their spines. But the forces determined to destroy his family won’t let them go so easily. Keeping Piper alive is more than he bargained for-and so is his burning desire for her. But with every second bringing him closer to certain death, can he afford to lose himself in her hot and willing embrace?

  1. Meg says:

My favorite thing about Pratchett’s books are how hilarious they are. The Wee Free Men (“Drinkin’ and fightin’ and swearing!”) are amongst his most delightful creations.

  2. Ginger says:

If you haven’t read Pratchett, the Tiffany Aching ones are a great place to start. #4 (I Shall Wear Midnight), gets me right in the feels.

  3. barbara says:

Sabrina York’s first book in the Untamed Highlanders series “Hannah and the Highlander” is on sale for $2,99 at Kobo and amazon.

  4. Lammie says:

My son was a reluctant reader. He devoured Wee Free Men when he was a teenager like it was his favorite candy. He is an adult now, but this is still one of his favorite books. Highly, highly recommended!

  5. Jenn says:

Dearest Rogue was $0.99 at Amazon for me. Just in case that extra dollar changes your mind…

  6. Amanda says:

@Jenn: It looks like it’s 99c elsewhere! Updated the post and thanks, Jenn!

  7. J.S. says:

Dearest Rogue is one of my favs. That scene on the cover, I had to re-read after an extremely stressful day at work. Both of the main characters due to their physical conditions are treated as flawed or weak or lesser, but so much strength and heart. Highly recommended.

  8. Jen says:

I LOVE Total Surrender, though I gotta say you really shouldn’t start with this one. You have to read the rest of the series, it is totally crack-y for me! Book 1 has a super super asshole hero, I know, but try to stick it out because the heroes get better, and the best one of all is the 4th hero. By that time the emotional payoff is so satisfying–if you skip the earlier ones I just don’t think it will engage you. But buy this one, and then go back and read the others. 🙂

  9. Mara says:

The Marriage Contract is a really fun read. Looking forward to the sequel!

  10. Ashley says:

Sustained by Emma Chase is on sale for 99c on Amazon right now. I already own it, but it’s such a great read! I highly recommend it.

  11. Carney says:

I am feeling very smug right now. I picked up an earlier in the series Elizabeth Hoyt during a previous sale and have been very intrigued by this premise, but I kept telling myself to wait so this one could go on sale. I never wait for the sale price! This is a banner day for me.

  12. cleo says:

Tigers & Devils by Sean Kennedy is .99 at Amazon and ARe. This is a fun mm contemporary set in Australia with a jock / hipster nerd pairing and completely fade to black sex scenes but good sexual tension.

Read the sample – it’s in first person and the narrator is someone you either love or you don’t – I liked his snarky, self-deprecating voice but ymmv.

  13. Kim says:

I know this post is a few days old, but since The Marriage Contract has been mentioned on this site a lot lately, I thought it might be worth pointing out that it does open with an attempted rape scene. Not a long or very graphic one, but definitely violent.
