Dictatorship of the Dress

Author: Jessica Topper
Released: 1/6 by Berkley
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: #1 in Much “I Do” About Nothing series

Summary: As the dress-bearer for her mother’s wedding, Laney Hudson has a lot more baggage than the bulky garment bag she’s lugging from New York to Hawaii. Laney is determined to prove she’s capable of doing something right, but running chores for her mom’s fairytale nuptials is proving to be a painfully constant reminder of her own lost love.

So when she’s mistaken for the bride and bumped up to first class, Laney figures some stress-free luxury is worth a harmless white lie. Until the flight crew thinks that the man sitting next to her is Laney’s groom, and her little fib turns into a hot mess.

The last thing Noah Ridgewood needs is some dress-obsessed diva landing in his first-class row. En route to his Vegas bachelor party, the straight-laced software designer knows his cold feet have nothing to do with the winter weather.

When a severe storm leaves them grounded in Chicago and they find themselves booked into the last available honeymoon suite, Laney and her in-flight neighbor have little choice but to get better acquainted. Now, as her bridal mission hangs in the balance, perhaps the thing Laney gets right is a second chance at love

Amanda says: The heroine is a comic book artist and it’s sounds super cute, especially with the “stranded” aspect.

  1. E.J. Stevens says:

The Magic Ex Libris series is on my wish list. With book 3 releasing soon, I really need to catch up on this series. It looks fantastic!

    Happy New Year. 🙂

  2. Hillary says:

Where will Trade Me be on sale? I searched Amazon and it doesn’t come up.

  3. SB Sarah says:

@Hillary: Trade Me is self-published by Milan, and there might not be preorder links up this early, if at all.

However, I know she has a mailing list, so if you sign up, you’ll get an email when it’s available:

    http://www.courtneymilan.com/newsletter.php

  4. Man, that urban fantasy novel sounds like my perfect kryptonite. Off to preorder, I expect…

  5. MirandaB says:

Also this month, is Foxglove Summer by Ben Aaronovich (next in the Peter Grant series), and Firefight by Brandon Sanderson (sequel to Steelheart)!

  6. Angie says:

The historicals will definitely put a dent in my wallet. I can never resist a good historical romance.

Unbound looks good, too, but I’ll have to start at the beginning for that one!

    Thanks for the heads up!

  7. peggy h says:

With a couple of hundred books in my TBR file (and still dozens in a physical pile!) I should not be buying more—but that Japanese Circus book, at $1.99—click! Happy New Year!

  8. I already pre-ordered the Hines, and am looking forward to it showing up on my Nook. ^_^

And I knew Benson was a writer, but haven’t gotten around to reading her yet. I really like that cover of hers, though! It’s colorful and charming.

  9. Darlynne says:

SAGA Vol. 4 arrived yesterday at my door. So many feels. And I also want the dragon circus book now.

  10. Mikaela says:

So many books! Lisa Shearin has a new book out , as does Nalini Singh- no wait, that is just my impatience. Dang. Edged Blade by J.C. Daniels is out this month, though. *checks* No. Feb. Damn it. February and March will be expensive for my book budget. sigh.

But James Hetley has a new book out this month, Signatures. At least he said so on twitter. And I have a pile of books to read while I am waiting for that one. 🙂

  11. DonnaMarie says:

I’ve got a reserve on JAK’s latest, Trust No One, Alice Clayton’s Last Call and Kresley Cole’s third Arcana book. Come on January 6! And then at the end of January when the world in is dark and oh so cold, I’m counting on the crazy sauce from Shannon McKenna as Sam has to face all those McCloud brothers, not to mention surrogate mom, Tamara, when they find out he and little Sveti have been getting… sweaty.

  12. cookiemonger says:

I knew that Amber Benson wrote books… The covers are always amazing, but the one I read was not very good. It’d be nice if she’s gotten better since then. I like the looks of this one.

  13. jw says:

Can it be… an asian girl protagonist written by Milan? I’m really excited now.

  14. Karin says:

I like Ranney, but did the hero really have to be building ships for the Confederacy? I have a thing where I can’t read books where the protagonists are sympathetic to the South in the Civil War. To me, it’s like a book where the hero is supplying armaments to the Nazis.

  15. Big K says:

I read the Owl and the Japanese Circus. It was poor — not worth reading. I LOVE paranormal romance, and hoped it would be like Thea Harrison’s stuff (some of which is great), but the characters were much more one dimensional, the love story half-hearted and haphazard, and the plot pretty lame. Jeaniene Frost’s Cat and Bones books, or Thea Harrison’s instead.
