Smart Podcast Trashy Books Romantic Times Rewind

I’m honestly not sure what having all the images from the episode in the podcast entry would do to the feeds it serves, so I’ll be doing a separate entry with all the visual aids and linking it. To Love a Duchess by Karen Ranney

To Love a Duchess

I picked up this title because it was recommended to me as a historical with a mystery and a slow-burn romance. I like all those words. I like them quite a bit. What I ended up with was a narrative that, the more I thought about it, didn’t make sense because the first half of the story didn’t match the second. Books on Sale: A Talent for Trickery by Alissa Johnson & More

RECOMMENDEDA Talent for Trickery by Alissa Johnson is 99c! I did a mulled wine recipe for this book as part of Covers & Cocktails. Carrie also reviewed it, giving it an A grade:

I liked the action and the mystery and above all I loved that Lottie’s super power is that she’s super smart and super practical. This book was funny and touching and has stayed in my head since I finished it. Now I just have to figure out how to make time for all the author’s other books. Sleep is overrated, right?

Books on Sale: Diablo Lake: Moonstruck by Lauren Dane & More

Diablo Lake: Moonstruck by Lauren Dane is 99c! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched at Barnes & Noble and iBooks. Sarah was really excited for this romance, though gave it a B-:

Moonstruck is more like an uneven pilot episode or two in a series that has potential to be entirely, utterly kickass. If it were tv, I’d keep my series recording on for a few more episodes in hopes the potential pans out. There is SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I’m 2000% here for the sequels, because this is a world worth revisiting many, many times.

Books on Sale: Normal by Graeme Cameron & More

RECOMMENDED: Normal by Graeme Cameron is $3.99! Elyse mentioned this in a previous post on Women in Psychological Thrillers and said:

Normal by Graeme Cameron is delightfully weird fun. Told from the perspective of a serial killer who is keeping a woman captive in his basement, we see her through his eyes only. This sounds like it would 1000% squicky and DNW, but Cameron makes his unnamed protagonist, if not likable or emphatic, engaging enough that it’s easy to keep reading.
