Elyse: I really enjoyed this book (hence the one day read) mostly because it focuses on a period in time I find really interesting and have read a lot about, but also because it stars a woman who wasn’t well-known to history.

Damsel in Distress by Heather Graham is $1.99 at Amazon! This historical romance has a heroine who is a maiden by day, and a bandit by night. This is a reprint of the same book under Graham’s other pen name, Shannon Drake, just in case the book sounded familiar to anyone. Some readers though there was way too much going on, while others loved the sense of adventure.
RECOMMENDED: Forbidden by Beverly Jenkins is $2.99! Redheadedgirl gave this book an A and reminded us all how lucky we are to have an author like Jenkins:
What Jenkins has been doing for decades upon decades is giving her readers strong three-dimensional Black women who are loved, desired, and cherished. I can’t tell you how important that is. Eddy gets to be strong, but also loved and supported by her community and her man, and that is the thing I loved most about her. I’m so glad Jenkins is writing these stories and giving voice to these times and places and people. We’re really lucky to have her in our community.
A Sword for His Lady by Mary Wine is $1.99! This historical romance is first in the Courtly Love series and I’m digging the cover. Readers loved the heroine, but found some of the couple’s problems seemed to be solved by the hero’s magic wang. Have you read this one?
RECOMMENDED: The Legend of Lyon Redmond by Julie Anne Long is $1.99 at select vendors! This is book eleven in the Pennyroyal Green series and Elyse gave it an A:
It’s fine to read The Legend of Lyon Redmond as a stand alone, but it won’t have as much impact without reading the earlier books in the series. Of course, that means I’m giving you a great excuse to buy a lot of books. For Pennyroyal fans who have been holding out for this one? You won’t be disappointed.
