RECOMMENDED: The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian is $1.99! Carrie gave it a B+:
This book succeeds in that it gives an irresistible couple in sweet, goofy Rob and grumpy Marian. I adored this couple for their ability to think outside the box, their easy and complete acceptance of each other, and their banter.
RECOMMENDED: The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman is $2.99! This mystery was one of Sarah’s favorite reads of 2023. There’s also a Netflix adaption due out this year and I’ve very curious!
RECOMMENDED: Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente is $1.99! A sequel is coming out in September! Carrie gave this one an A-:
I loved the book and would gleefully quote it all day. It made me feel happy and bubbly. It celebrated art of all kinds, even (possibly especially) shitty art. It made me feel hopeful and it made me laugh, and I love the message with which it begins and ends.
Fake by Kylie Scott is 99c! Elyse read this one and gave it a B-:
Some readers will likely find Fake to be too under developed for them, and some, like me, will find it works just fine. It gave me a happy, angst free reading experience I enjoyed. Just know, your mileage may vary.
Fake is a fake relationship celebrity romance that will either really work for people or not work at all. It’s tropey, has a first person POV that limits engagement with the hero, and also is largely absent of conflict. If you’re looking for something with a lot of character development and a good bleak moment, this book will not satisfy. Fireworks by Sarina Bowen is 99c! This is the sixth book in Bowen’s True North series. I’ve enjoyed this series, but haven’t made it quite this far. If you’ve ever been curious about it, the first book is FREE! I also reviewed it and found the series to be great on audio.
