Season Two of Bridgerton is here and we have thoughts! In the second season, a widow and her two daughters, acerbic spinster Kate and her sociable younger sister Edwina, spend the last of their funds to travel from Bombay to London, and find Edwina a husband. Anthony, the head of the Bridgerton clan, thinks Edwina would be the perfect wife for a quiet, unromantic life; he just has to convince Edwina’s sister to stop hating … Continue reading Kiki and Shana watched Bridgerton 2→
The Trouble with Hating You by Sajni Patel is $2.99! Sajni Patel gets some really great covers. Her newest one was featured on Cover Awe. Have any of you read this one? What’d you think?
A Lot Like Adios by Alexis Daria is $1.99! This is Daria’s latest release and has a second chance romance. I know illustrated covers can be divisive, but wowee these are gorgeous. Did you pick this one up on release? Have you read her previous ones?
Time’s Convert by Deborah Harkness is $2.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. I believe reading this is most beneficial if you’ve finished the All Souls Trilogy, though correct me if I’m wrong. If it’s the latter, Lara wrote a great post about why the series is such a favorite for her.
Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne is $4.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and today’s deals have A LOT of romance. Elyse gave this one a B+:
The theme of slowly exiting your safe space when the time was right was so timely and on point for me. It was because Teddy was so kind and gentle with Ruthie in her journey to come out of her shell, and appreciative of who she was without wanting her to change (but supporting her desire to) that this book worked. When Teddy and Ruthie begin to fall for each other, it made total sense.
A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers is $1.99! This is book two in the Wayfarers series, and I believe this should be read in order. Please correct me if I’m wrong! Sarah also did a podcast episode with Becky last week. Give it a listen!
It’s Wednesday afternoon (at least where I am) and you know what that means! It’s time to take a little break with some things from around the internet. I’m currently in a summer slog, where all I want to do is nap with my AC unit on. Anyone else? Sadly, my dance calendar is a little full and I actually have to be social. Nothing feels quite as good as bailing on plans. … Author … Continue reading Links: Real Life Romances, Special Editions, & More→
Bridgerton Collection: Volume 1 by Julia Quinn is $6.99! It’s a little pricier than what we’d normally feature but you get three full-length historical romances and these collections, when not on sale, are priced at $19.99. Not a bad deal!
RECOMMENDED: The Duke Who Didn’t by Courtney Milan is 99c! This is a KDD and I know many of you have been waiting for this to go on sale! Catherine gave this a squee grade:
The Duke Who Didn’t was always going to be a book that made me happy. Humour, food, and a gentle hero who just wants the heroine to be less stressed are a pretty good formula for getting onto my keeper shelf.
First Comes Scandal by Julia Quinn is $2.99! This is labeled as a Bridgerton prequel and Kiki gave it a B:
In the stress of the world right now, there is something extra reassuring in a book that, to put it plainly, isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel. First Comes Scandal never makes you wonder if they’ll end up together (although I LOVE that kind of angst at the right time), and it doesn’t make the characters, or the reader, work too hard for the happily ever after. And honestly? Thank god.
RECOMMENDED: Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton is $1.99! It’s part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals, which features some romance and Mira Grant. Carrie gave this one an A-, but warns it’s definitely not a romance. Definitely skim her review to see if this book is right for you:
This book broke my heart but it also made me so happy.
