Welcome back to Wednesday Links! What’s new with me? I’m sick! Have a sore throat that I’m definitely not loving and doing everything I can to soothe it. We also have a long weekend here in the States for the 4th of July. Boston definitely goes all out, but I will be staying inside, cranking my AC, and probably playing Power Wash Simulator (there’s a new Spongebob Squarepants DLC dropping tomorrow!) How are you all doing? … Continue reading Links: Drag Queens, Horror, & More →
Whew, that was a close one! I almost left the house for my weekly therapy appointment without scheduling some links. Have I mentioned yet that I’m moving apartments and my brain is essentially mush? Because I am and it is. … New to erotica? Want to dip a toe in? Thien-Kim Lam has some great suggestions for getting into the sub-genre. And, even if you’re an erotica fan, you may want to add a few … Continue reading Links: Erotica, Horses, & Beverly Jenkins →
The Red by Tiffany Reisz is an erotic journey though art history. It’s a book that pushes the envelope, and one that won’t be for all readers, but one that I found immensely enjoyable. In many ways it reads like an erotic fairytale, complete with an ending that felt a little too convenient. Mona Lisa St. James promised her mother that she would do anything in her power to save the family art gallery, The Red. … Continue reading The Red by Tiffany Reisz →
Happy Hump Day! It’s April and I’m personally dreading the oncoming allergy season. The RT Booklover’s Convention is a month away and I’m counting the days until I can be in warmer weather. … Cosmopolitan has a really interesting interview with artist/illustrator Anna Kmet and author Lorraine Heath on how a romance novel cover takes shape. Thanks to Reader Janice G. for the link: Lorraine: Romance readers do base a lot on the covers. That’s the … Continue reading Links: Cover Art, Superheroes, & Events →
Recently, we’ve had a couple emails and comments about different types of erotica and erotic romance that stray from the rich billionaire formula. The first request is for books that have an extra element of sex in them without being overtly in the BDSM camp: You’ve reviewed a lot of books with non-traditional sexualities or BDSM themes, which I appreciate. However I rarely seem to find my personal preference – very mild kinkiness, vanilla with … Continue reading The Rec League: Historical Erotica & Erotica without Billionaires →
RECOMMENDED: The Chocolate Touch by Laura Florand is $2.99! This contemporary romance was a Sizzling Book Club pick in September 2013. For many, Florand is an auto-buy author and the descriptions of chocolate were downright dangerous. A few readers felt that some scenes dialed up the angst too high, but the book maintains a 4-star rating on GoodReads.

Owning Violet by Monica Murphy is 99c! This is the first book in the Fowler Sisters erotic romance series. It was also featured in December’s edition of Hide Your Wallet. I actually bought the book, though it’s in TBR purgatory right now. The heroine is an heiress to a cosmetics company (along with her two sisters) and the hero is a co-worker. So if workplace romances are your catnip, look out. Some readers felt the heroine was a bit of a push over, while others thought this was a great start to a new erotica series. It has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads.

If you don’t remember, I reviewed the first book in the Game Maker series, The Professional and enjoyed it with the caveat of fully committing myself to the crazy. Now that we’re another book into this strange world of erotic Russians, I was prepared. I knew what to expect and part of me was actually looking forward to seeing the ante upped in cracktastic glory. That is not what happened, which is probably why it … Continue reading The Master by Kresley Cole →
RECOMMENDED: Blamed by Edie Harris is 99c! And I can honestly say that it’s worth the damn dollar. I’d even pay five whole dollars for this. Maybe more. This is a romantic suspense and I read the book late last year, giving it an A–:
It truly is a beautifully written book. It’s emotional and engaging and truly exemplifies what I want in my romantic suspenses.

Afterburn & Aftershock by Sylvia Day is on sale with a couple different prices at a couple different places. At Amazon and Barnes & Noble, it’s $3.68 (odd, I know) and at Google:Play, it’s $1.99. I’m sure we all know which number we’d prefer! Scribd is also scheduled to start carrying this title in August, so mark your calendars! This is a two-story set that’s been compiled after each novella was released separately. Fans of Day seem to be split on Afterburn & Aftershock, though it does have a 3.9-star rating on GoodReads. Any Day readers care to compare this set with her other books?

The Saint by Tiffany Reisz is $1.99! This is an erotic romance and acts as a prequel series to her Original Sinners series. I’m not sure if it’s better to read these before Original Sinners (this “prequel series” technically was published after the first series), or after to augment your knowledge of the characters. I adored reading The Siren ( A | BN | K | G | AB | Au ) and Elyse gave the book a great review, so I won’t turn down more of Nora and Søren. Any other fans of the series in the Bitchery?
