Long story short, if you’re looking for a fun thriller and you don’t mind buckling up for the long-ish haul on the romance (or if you just miss used bookstores as much as I do), give it a try!
An Immense World by Ed Yong is $2.99! I believe Aarya mentioned this on a previous Hide Your Wallet and I’ve heard it’s wonderful on audio. Did any of you pick this one up?
Any Duke in a Storm by Amalie Howard is $1.99! This is book four in the Daring Dukes series. The heroine is a spy trying to apprehend a duke. Have any of you read this series?
It’s our first Hide Your Wallet of 2025! Sound the trumpets and throw the confetti. It’s a petite start to the month but then it really picks up. Is it the same for you? What books are you excited to get your hands on this week? Is 2025 looking like a good year for your TBR pile? Let us know in the comments!
I’ve decided to take a really good look at the Contemporary Romance Colors that are most prevalent on covers this year and attempt to identify what is the CR-COTY, the Contemporary Romance Color of the Year. Sidenote: did you know I’m not technically supposed to name things? I’m not good at it. If “CR-COTY” is making your eyelids twitch, I am also responsible for the name DABWAHA, the bracket tournament of romance we used to … Continue reading Contemporary Romance Color of the Year: Green?→
RECOMMENDED: Nice Dragons Finish Last by Rachel Aaron is $2.49! This was mentioned on a previous podcast and a previous Whatcha Reading. The second book of Aaron’s we’ve featured this week and the comments had good things to say about Aaron’s storytelling. Sarah loved this book:
Nice Dragons Finish Last is fast-moving fantasy adventure with outstanding worldbuilding. It’s an experience to read.
The Cutthroat Countess by Minerva Spencer is $3.99 at Amazon! It’s available elsewhere, but not at the sale prince. This is the third book in the Wicked Women of Whitechapel. Book one was favorably reviewed.
RECOMMENDED: A Morbid Taste for Bones by Ellis Peters is $3.99 at Amazon! This is book one in The Chronicles of Brother Cadfael series, which I remember Sarah enjoying. Here’s what she said:
This book and the next few books of the series got me through the scariest parts of early Quarantimes.
I cannot emphasize enough how hungry this book will make you.
Accidentally Engaged might be my top pick for “don’t read while hungry.” Between our heroine Reena’s bread baking (there’s rye, there’s challah, there’s an ongoing battle with a sourdough starter) and her Indian and East African cooking, I was craving a feast pretty much the whole time I was reading this book.
Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater is $2.99! This is book one in the Regency Faerie Tales series and subsequent books in the series were listed in latest Hide Your Wallet. There’s another YA vs. Adult debate for this one as well. I believe there is no sexual content in this one.
