The Girl Next Door by Chelsea M. Cameron is $1.99! Tara and Shana wrote a joint review for this one back in May and gave it a B-:
Shana: I would give this a B-. I loved the wholesome sweetness of the love story. I was rooting hard for Iris and Jude, but the low-conflict storyline left me wanting a little more angst and a lot more plot. This reminded me of a Hallmark Channel movie with girl sex.
Ten Kisses to Scandal by Vivienne Lorret is $1.99! This is the second book in the Misadventures in Matchmaking series and honestly, it sounds like my kind of catnip. Any Lorret fans in the Bitchery? I’m sure this can be read on it’s own, but should I start at the beginning?
Stripped by Zoey Castile is $2.99! This is the first book in the Happy Endings series. I read this one and gave it a B grade:
Stripped is an uncomplicated romance between two goofy, sexy people. It has a sweetness to it that’s reminiscent of a contemporary friends to lovers trope. If that hits all of your buttons, do read this!
Named of the Dragon by Susanna Kearsley is $1.99! In true Kearsley fashion, this book has a little bit of everything – history, romance, mystery. Some readers say this book has a bit more of a Gothic edge than her other works, which they liked. But some felt it wasn’t as balanced of a story as they were used to. Have you read this one?

I felt like this was full of Shakespearean drama, and scheming families, and hot sex, and gorgeous clothes, but also some important things to say about how the world is functioning. There’s a lot going on, though, and the ending a tad rushed.
A Certain Age by Beatriz Williams is $1.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. This is a historical fiction novel set in New York’s Jazz Age. This book was released earlier this summer and readers loved the sense of place Williams created. It’s also a retelling of an opera, which is pretty cool! However, others found the story a bit underwhelming compared to the jacket copy. It has a 3.6-star rating on Goodreads.
RECOMMENDED: Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor is $2.99! This is a YA fantasy with some romantic elements, and it’s the first in a series. I’ve heard so many good things about this book, and several friends compared it to a fairy tale. However, readers admit that it’s a tad confusing at the start, as they tried to get their footing in the story.
The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman is $1.99! This is a YA book about demon-hunting in Regency England, which sounds all sorts of badass. Readers loved the heroine and all the other female characters in the book, but some felt like it was too much like Buffy the Vampire Slayer in a rather obvious way. Have you read this one?
RECOMMENDED: The Courtesan Duchess by Joanna Shupe is $1.99 at Amazon and other select vendors! This is a historical romance where the couple is married, but estranged. This is also the first book in the Wicked Deceptions series, which Redheadedgirl loved! She mentioned this book on a previous Whatcha Reading post and called the book “delightfully crazy.” And, if you want more Shupe, the first two books in her New York-set Knickerbocker Club series are also on sale!
