Links: LeVar Burton, Comics, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hello, everyone! Welcome back!

How are we all doing? The Northeast had a bit of a winter storm, so that’s the biggest excitement on my end! Well…not true. We also discovered the washer/dryer unit we ordered wouldn’t fit up our stairs over the weekend. But it was an easy return and a new unit is installed. I’m so ready to wash EVERYTHING.

I also picked up a new board game based on a friend’s recommendation: Dungeons, Dice & Danger. Have any of you played? She also recommend Railroad Ink, which may not be for me, but could be of interest to some of you. It reminds of me Ticket to Ride, but with more of a drawing/puzzle component.

Anything LeVar Burton related is usually a delight and/or pretty wholesome. Here’s a recent interview in the Los Angeles Times about his fight for literacy. Thanks to E.C. Spurlock for the link!

Please meet Sigrid and her owner Travis! They are currently based in London and Sigrid loves going for bike rides. She’s a gorgeous cat and has turned into a bit of a local celebrity.

Love reading online comics? The Mary Sue has typed a resource of where you can find even more indie creators.  While pretty helpful, I’d also like to support online comics publishers who treat their creators well, so more info about that is need (IMO).

If you need a laugh, I definitely recommend Adrian Bliss’s videos.

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

Love Adrian Bliss. I always get a chuckle from his videos. I’ve also started watching Jay & Sharon on YouTube. Their daughter might just be the most stoic baby I’ve ever seen. They are also wildly funny.

I love LeVar Burton, I feel like he is my Fred Rogers. I’m avoiding whole swathes of the internet right now b/c I don’t want to spoil Ted Lasso. It’s going to be a long haul b/c our plan is to wait until close to the finale, subscribe for a month, cram all the Ted Lasso into our brains, and cancel.

Continuing the tradition of YouTube recommending me very unusual, sometimes silly, often joyous musical things. “Oh What a Feeling!” from FLASHDANCE. On hand bells. Lots and lots of hand bells.

I’m following the Cal Berkeley falcons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nvCVS2TRRk. Annie and her new mate Lou have 4 eggs this year. They have already defended their nest from intruders. There is so much drama!

  4. LML says:

The ringers (those who aren’t concentrating fiercely) look like they are having SO much fun.

Love the hand bells. There’s a small hand bell ringer convention in Ocean City, MD,this weekend, though I think it’s mostly churches, so primarily hymnal music.
