Links: Weddings, Science, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Welcome back to Wednesday Links!

I am sick, everyone! Sore throat, aches, the whole nine. Gotta say, I don’t recommend it.

In the meantime, my old cat and I had a sleepover at my partner’s place because they have amazing heat and it was in the negatives this past weekend. It went well, all things considered (namely monitoring Linus around a ton of new plants he definitely wants to eat).

It’s since warmed up, thank goodness. How is everyone else managing with their own seasonal weather?

Fashion and anime collide with this Jimmy Choo x Sailor Moon collaboration. Sailor Mars is my favorite of the Sailor Scouts, but I love Venus and Mercury’s shoe designs the best.

This link comes from Janet. Thanks, Janet!

Here’s a link to the Rijkmuseum’s Vermeer exhibit, which gathers 28 of his existing paintings, the biggest exhibit of his work ever, Feb 10— June 4. It has a nifty toy to play with where you can listen to Stephen Fry pontificate on the paintings, or play with the images, zoom in and out, and do your own pontificating. It’s pretty amazing.

Their online stuff is always terrific. It’s a good place to visit virtually (and in real life if you can swing it).

Anyone else watching The Last of Us? If you are and want to nerd out with me, NPR’s Science Friday talked about the fungus featured in the show.

The HarperCollins Union is still on strike. Two months and counting. LitHub has a collection of portraits and statements from the workers striking.

Did any of you see this adorable wedding invite going around?

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

Lovely article about people completing projects on behalf of others too ill, or deceased, and unable to do so. These works-in-progress were destined for loved ones

I wanna give a shout out to the INCREDIBLE exhibition at the Ashmolean in the UK.

Greece loves the Ashmolean Museum as much as it loathes the British Museum. There are some well-known artifacts from Crete in here. <3

If you’re a gamer, there’s a romance game bundle available at Humble Bundle right now. I haven’t played any of the games, but some are quite highly rated, for what that’s worth.

That wedding invite is so charming! I particularly like the description of the groom-to-be as “thunderous bachelor”! (Not sure what it MEANS, but I love it.)

I just got a birthday package of tea from this shop, and they have literary teas! https://svtea.com/collections/literary-tea I love that the Edgar Allen Poe tea brews up blood red, and the Thoreau tea looks like something he scrounged up out of the woods and fields.
