Changing the Game by Jaci Burton is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and book two in the Play by Play series. I was a huge fan of this series back during my major sports romance reading. I even have a Jaci Burton cover as a poster on my wall. However, I have no clue how well the series holds up.

Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews is $1.99! This is book two in The Edge series. This is the Andrews series that I’m least familiar with. If any members of the Bitchery have thoughts about reading in order or jumping into this as a standalone, please chime in!

In for a Penny by Rina Gray is 99 cents. The description is giving me “What if Misery was a romance?” vibes. On one hand, I’m intrigued; on the other, I’m too poor to risk a dollar on a premise that’s kinda giving me the vapors. I know somebody here is more daring!
IMO Bayou Moon can be read as a stand-alone. It’s a bit darker than On the Edge, but i enjoyed William’s story arc as well as Cerise’s growing relationship with William.
I agree with Kit, but then you’ll need the first book to go on with series which is well worth the time. Wonderful books and in some ways a more complicated world than some others by Ilona Andrews, though all of their books are set in complex and intriguing worlds. How do they keep creating such fascinating alternatives?
BAYOU MOON will probably disappoint if you’re after a romance, but it’s a cracking fantasy (I almost wrote urban fantasy, but the whole thing is set in a gloriously dark swamp so swamp fantasy?). It’s one of my favourites in this series, and introduces two of the heroes for later books.
Hard Fall by Kat Mizera and Brenda Rothert is free.
Rebel Mission by Em Petrova is $.99.
Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews is excellent, as is that series. It is the second book in the Edge series and I recommend reading them in order. I’ve read that whole series many times, it’s that good. There is romance. Some characters from the series show up in the Sweep series.

Man, I remember when that first Play by Play series book by Jaci Burton came out… that cover! Now that is what romance novel covers should look like. Sigh.
Agreed on all the comments on Ilona Andrews Edge series. It is a good series. I read them all back-to-back they are incredibly immersive and the world building is so interesting. The last book in the series is my hands down favorite

I just finished In For A Penny, and I wish the author had not tried to write an adult scene. Or two I think there were two. It’s just not her talent and they were so bad they detracted from the rest of the book. Other than that I gave it ***. Much angst, little humor.
