Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hey! It’s Wednesday! Can you believe it?

Admittedly, I am dragging this week. I’m so unmotivated to do anything. Anyone else in the same boat?

In cool things, I made dumplings on Sunday! I didn’t make the wrappers myself because that was a little too intimidating for a first time project, but the store bought ones worked out just fine. Made a batch of 50 with some filling left over. They were so tasty! I’m almost sad I shared them with friends and didn’t hoard them for myself. Did any of you make anything delicious lately?

If you live in the New England area, there’s a romance festival happening this Saturday (weather permitting) at the Concord Free Public Library in Concord, MA. Some great authors will be there!

I’m totally digging this Labyrinth fan theory! I forgot where I saw it originally – Instagram or Twitter maybe?

Thanks to Chacha, who posted this in the comments of Lara’s review of Only Bad Options by Jennifer Estep! Estep was on John Scalzi’s blog, talking about how the novel originated.

Lastly, enjoy this thread of paintings of cats stealing food!

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

I’m with you on the dragging, unmotivated feeling. I’d much rather look at those cat paintings than do responsible adult things.

Nice job in the dumplings my high school bff and I used to make egg rolls. Made the filling one day. Stuffed and fried them the next. Good time.

    I am addicted to this.

It makes enough for four, and I am not ashamed to say I have eaten the entire bowl by myself. Happily my boss’s father grows his own corn which she brings in regularly. And I live in corn country so I’ll be feasting for a couple more weeks.

@Rebecca – The McSweeney’s article is all Smart-Bitches-Trashy-Brilliance! It should be required reading, whether you love or hate RomComs. And clearly, the author has to be a romance (& SB) reader. Thank you for linking to the laughs.

@Rebecca: Love that, I genuinely LOL’d. This comment thread informed me of the existence of Shelburne Falls, a town which apparently supports its economy by being the location for Hallmark movies: check out its list of businesses, holy heck.

Re: cooking. Last week, I was given a bunch of tulsi basil. Didn’t want to make tea, the recommended use (it just smelled overwhelming), but managed to find a recipe, from Assam, that turned out delicious. Cook split peas and butternut squash together with a little onion, a little turmeric, and a tiny pinch of cinnamon. Melt ghee/butter, throw in cumin seeds and shredded ginger and green chilies and let them sizzle briefly. Then stir a generous amount of shredded tulsi into the butter, pour over the squash, and serve with flat bread.

@Vasha, one interesting thing about that thread is the movie, The Christmas Cottage, is actually a book-to-film. The Christmas Cottage by Samantha Chase.

While people love to make fun of holiday movies, they forget many are books-to-film from the romance and women’s fiction genres, and occasionally there’s one written by a male. Yes, many are original teleplays, too, and those are written by both male and female screenwriters.

@DonnaMarie thanks for the Elotes recipe—I’m home with covid but somehow still had fridge corn? I have grilled it and it will be delicious.
