RECOMMENDED: Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep is $1.99! Elyse read this one and gave it a B+:
Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep is the first book in a fantasy series that features a badass female gladiator on a quest to reclaim the throne from her murderous cousin. It’s tremendous fun, although it wraps up quickly.

Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews is $1.49! This is a spin-off of Andrews’ Kate Daniels series with the main character being Kate and Curran’s ward. Obviously this will be a more nuanced read if you’ve finished or are familiar with the prior series. I dropped off that train around book three.

Hey! It’s Wednesday! Can you believe it? Admittedly, I am dragging this week. I’m so unmotivated to do anything. Anyone else in the same boat? In cool things, I made dumplings on Sunday! I didn’t make the wrappers myself because that was a little too intimidating for a first time project, but the store bought ones worked out just fine. Made a batch of 50 with some filling left over. They were so tasty! I’m almost sad … Continue reading Links: Events, Cats, & More →
I’d never heard of a space opera before. Having just read my first, I’m not sure that I’m qualified to define it, but I can tell you that I absolutely love it! This is 429 pages of reading joy. That this is book one in a series fills me with delight – so many happy reading hours ahead! As I see it, a space opera seems to be part romance, part space adventure. Let’s dive … Continue reading Only Bad Options by Jennifer Estep →

Wildwood Whispers by Willa Reece is $2.99! I mentioned this one on a previous Hide Your Wallet. It reminded me a bit of one of my favorite books, Garden Spells, but with some darker tones. Have you read this one?

Devil in Disguise by Lisa Kleypas is $2.99! This is the seventh book in the Ravenels series and Catherine gave it a B-:
Devil in Disguise is a low-stakes, sexy romance, with cameos from some of my favourite characters from the other Wallflowers and Ravenel stories. It did suffer from one significant flaw (don’t play the Our Love Is Doomed card if it will be thrown away halfway through the story).
